We are so excited to welcome Finlay Wilson to Boston Yoga Union!

Finlay has a background teaching Vinyasa, Hatha, Asthanga and over half of his 17 year career teaching Forrest Yoga. Finlay teaches Forrest Yoga with a twist of anatomy and functional range movement which means the variety of workshops offered is quite broad, as you will see. Most of them are suitable for all levels as there are stages to work through for everyone. Very much focused on the how’s and why’s of poses and how we can make them work for each person, rather than a one size fits all approach. Following the huge success of his two Kilted Yoga books, Finlay has also recently had his third book published with this focusing on accessibility Adapting Chair Yoga for Every Body

ONLY 8 SPOTS LEFT!

Join for Fire & Ice: a Yin, Breathwork and Manifestation Journey

A Two-Hour Elemental Ritual of Release, Renewal & Breath-Born Visioning

What if your next chapter didn’t come from force but from elemental intelligence moving through your body?

Join Emily Peterson for a special two-hour workshop weaving Yin Yoga, somatic opening, micro-dose breathwork, and guided manifestation questions. This experience blends the soft, cooling waters of Yin with the activating spark of breath and intention—an alchemical dance between fire and ice, Yin and Yang, rest and ignition.

What You’ll Experience

Yin Yoga for Water & Ice
A slow, contemplative sequence to soften the fascia, open the channels, and melt the body into receptive intelligence. These shapes prime your subtle system so your breathwork can carry deeper, clearer messages.

Micro-Dose Breathwork Activation
A safe, contained, rhythmic breath practice designed to gently awaken your inner fire without overwhelming the nervous system. You’ll work with cycles of breath that invite clarity, release, and somatic unlocking.

Guided Manifestation Inquiry
During the breathwork, Emily will offer subtle prompts—questions that arise from the body rather than the mind—helping you meet your next becoming in the zero-point space between exhale and inhale.

The Yin & Yang of Creation
This elemental arc helps you feel the polarity inside yourself: the place where softness and intensity meet… where water cools and clarifies, and fire awakens what’s been waiting for you.

What This Workshop Supports

• Clarifying your path or next step

• Resetting the nervous system

• Opening the emotional body without overwhelm

• Releasing old cycles, warming the inner spark

• Visioning from your core, not your conditioning

• Remembering your elemental nature

Perfect For

Anyone seeking a soothing, powerful, and embodied way to reset, re-align, and step into a new cycle. No prior breathwork experience required.

JANUARY WORKSHOP ALERT ‼️

Leading into the New Year we have a really exciting lineup of workshops with BYU faculty and Guest Teachers!

First up, Emily Peterson

Join Emily Peterson for a special two-hour workshop weaving Yin Yoga, somatic opening, micro-dose breathwork, and guided manifestation questions. This experience blends the soft, cooling waters of Yin with the activating spark of breath and intention—an alchemical dance between fire and ice, Yin and Yang, rest and ignition.

A long time friend to the BYU Community David Vendetti

Step into the new year with intention and ease. Starting with a slow-flow vinyasa class that offers a grounding, conscious, and deeply connected experience designed to build a strong foundation from the inside out. Move with freedom as you align your physical and energetic body, cultivate core strength, and explore postures with mindful attention and presence.

Session 2 is a deep tissue massage that will educate practitioners on self care, break through to new levels of flexibility, and brighten and invigorate the soul!

Last but not least J Brown

This workshop takes us deep into the practice and philosophy behind J. Brown’s slow and strong, powerfully intimate, breath-centered therapeutic yoga teaching. Inspired by the T Krishnamacharya (“the teacher of teachers”) and TKV Desikachar tradition, J has codified 20+ years of teaching experience into a singularly healing yoga practice that adapts to individual needs.

This is J’s signature offering that he has given to thousands of teachers and students around the world. His approach emphasizes breath before poses, simplicity and attention over striving and achievement, and is geared towards reducing stress and a lessening of pain.

We hope to see you on the mat for these incredibly enriching offerings!

Happy New Year, friends.
As we step into 2026, I’ve been thinking about what actually happens on our mats. We show up, we get sweaty, we wobble, we hold still when everything in us wants to move. We show up and get still, and soften when everything in us tells us to keep our armor on. We take support—from the props and from each other—when everything in us says “I can do it myself.” We test our edges.
And in all of that, we’re not trying to fix ourselves or become someone better—we’re just clearing away the noise so we can see what’s already there. Yoga isn’t an improvement practice. It’s a tool to reveal what’s already perfect.
The resilience we build here—the kind that helps us be more ourselves—is the real work. And you’ve been doing it. Through every class, every breath, every moment you chose to show up, especially on the days it was hard.
I’m grateful to share this practice with you. We truly have the best teachers in Boston, and the communities that gather here—morning crew, evening warriors, weekend regulars—are thriving because of you. Your presence, your energy, your willingness to keep it real on and off the mat makes this place what it is.
Here’s to another year of getting sweaty, getting still, and being even more vibrantly ourselves.
With gratitude,

Tim & BYU Team

Welcome Home

Opened in February 2019,and winner of Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston - Best Yoga Studio, Boston Yoga Union is Boston’s ‘newest old-school yoga studio.’ From the poses, the philosophy, the hard work; to the mystical, the playlist, the sweat AND the surrender: we genuinely love it all.

Our teachers first and foremost consider themselves students; and our collective experience shows us that regular practice of yoga is vital to physical health, emotional wellbeing, and spiritual connectedness.

With three beautiful spaces, a diverse menu of class styles and levels, we welcome all humans to practice with us.
