South Cove WIC program sites are conveniently located at South St Boston and Tufts Medical Center. We are affiliated with South Cove Community Health Center, the largest Asian community health center in Massachusetts with new and expanded clinics in greater Boston area. WIC was first established by Congress is 1972 to improve the nutritional status of high-risk, low-to moderate-income women and children. Research has shown that these populations are at risk because of inadequate nutrient intake and/or inadequate health care. By providing checks for nutritious foods, nutrition
education and counseling, breastfeeding support and referrals to needed services, WIC promotes optimal health for its participants during the critical periods of growth and development—pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood.
