Everyone living with CMT is affected differently and at various stages in functionality with the disease.

Support may be the most valuable gift anyone can give to raise hope in moving with confidence and to help overcome obstacles that go beyond physical challenges.

The same approach does not always provide the same outcome. It’s important to have a support group of others that understand your challenges and can provide potential solutions that may be right for your individual situation.

We are always here for additional support, and are happy to review your clinical case to see if you would be a candidate for Ken’s workshop.

During the evaluation process, Ken explains the goals of a new custom orthotic and how proper gait training can restore all the natural elements.

The workshop teaches you to move more comfortably and sustainably. No more compensations that leave you feeling poorly, no more fear of getting around. Just independence and confidence in a new world of movement.

Day 2 of The Workshop ⤵️

Custom Fitting & Gait Training

⭐️ Detailed Fitting Process: Fit customized AFOs to suit your unique needs. Final adjustments to ensure perfect fit of AFOs.

⭐️ Begin Formal Gait Training with your New Customized AFOs. The goal is to restore all the basic elements of gait.

⭐️ Advanced Gait Training: Eliminating all energy robbing gait compensations and restoration of a powerful propulsive gait pattern. Dynamic balance training and speed training maintaining improved posture.

⭐️ Off-Site, Real-World Training: We will go off site to train on uneven terrain and common obstacles. Ramp training to achieve maximum propulsive power. Applying learned skills to build confidence and push limits.

⭐️ Completion and Future Planning: Return to workshop to make any final adjustments to your AFOs and discuss next steps and ongoing support. Provide detailed written instructions to take home along with their prescription for future treatment.

Day 1 of The Workshop ⤵️

Evaluation & Preliminary Fitting

⭐️ Introductions And Open Evaluations: Gathering initial patient data and sharing experiences.

⭐️ Physical Assessments: Begin individual evaluations and gait assessments to determine your specific needs.

⭐️ Trial Fittings: You will be fit with demo AFOs and gait training begins to improve your balance, propulsive power and walking speed. We will identify what needs to be done with your definitive AFOs and where your individual gait training will be focused.

⭐️ Orthotic Impressions: The day ends with impressions with being taken for custom foot orthotics.
