Hearth, Inc. - ending elder homelessness

Hearth, Inc. - ending elder homelessness Hearth is dedicated to the elimination of homelessness among the elderly. We house, prevent, and/or stabilize housing for individuals over 50.

We manage 228 units of permanent supportive housing and an Outreach program, which helps over 250 elders each year to find and succeed in housing of their own. Recently we partnered with the Corporation for Supportive Housing to create a National Initiative to End Elder Homelessness.

We'd like to thank several in-kind donors who made the holidays even more special for Hearth's residents through a recent holiday market, hosted at our Anna Bissonnette House. Thank you to LeadingAge for providing socks to all of our residents, SkinCare Physicians for hosting a drive for winter clothing and personal care essentials, and the anonymous group of "secret elves" for their generous donation of handmade jewelry and potted plants. You can make our residents' holidays warmer by making a winter clothing donation today. If you're interested, please contact Hayden Kane at hkane@hearth-home.org.

Nothing spreads holiday cheer like a holiday market. That was the theme of the recent Community Day made possible by Loomis, Sayles & Company, hosted at Hearth's Four Corners site. Residents from all of our Hearth sites participated in this joyous event. Together with Loomis Sayles team members, they played bingo and other games, enjoyed baked goods and warm drinks, and visited the holiday market for free household essentials. Thank you to Loomis Sayles for presenting this fantastic event and spreading cheer for our community!

Meet Holly, one of the newest residents at Hearth!

For decades, Holly had a successful career as a controller. But after unexpectedly becoming a person with a disability, she was forced to stop working, which eventually led to her experiencing homelessness.

Before Hearth, Holly spent over a year in a shelter. She lived in fear of her belongings being taken, even sleeping with her sneakers on so they wouldn't be stolen.
When Holly first walked into her new apartment, the feeling was one of overwhelming relief. “I actually couldn’t believe it that it was finally happening,” she recalls. “I was going to have my own keys to my own place".

Now, she is settling into her new, quiet life. “I love it,” she says. “It’s been peaceful... I don’t have to worry about people taking my stuff".

We are so thrilled that Holly has found the peace, security, and dignity she deserves at Hearth.
