Daily self-massage (Abhyanga) is one of Ayurveda’s most grounding practices —nourishing the skin, calming the mind, and strengthening immunity.

Why Abhyanga Works:

* Calms Vata dosha → reduces anxiety, restlessness, and dryness
* Improves circulation + lymphatic flow → boosts immunity and energy
* Deeply nourishes tissues → supports glow, vitality, and resilience (ojas)
* Enhances sleep → especially when done in the evening
* Balances the nervous system → encourages parasympathetic “rest + restore” mode
Abhyanga isn’t just skincare; it’s self-love in action. Think of it as meditation through touch. It teaches the body safety, the mind stillness, and the heart softness.

Golden milk is an Ayurvedic drink that has been loved for centuries for its nourishing, anti-inflammatory, and soothing qualities. It blends turmeric with warming spices to balance vata and kapha doshas. It is perfect for chilly days, winding down at night, or whenever you need a moment of warm self-care.

Ingredients:

* Turmeric supports healthy inflammation response & digestion.
* Ginger + black pepper stoke digestive fire (agni) and help your body absorb curcumin.
* Cinnamon grounds the nervous system and stabilizes blood sugar.
* Nutmeg has natural sedative effects.
* Warm milk (dairy or plant-based) is calming and helps soothe the mind before sleep.

Recipe (1 serving):

* 1 cup milk of choice
* 1 tsp turmeric
* Pinch of black pepper
* ½ tsp cinnamon
* ½ tsp nutmeg
* ¼ tsp ginger powder (or fresh grated)
* 1 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
* Splash of vanilla (optional)

Heat the milk gently on the stove. Whisk in the turmeric, spices, and sweetener until frothy and golden. Sip slowly and let the warmth settle your body and mind.

New Year’s Eve has long been recognized across cultures as a sacred threshold —a moment when time itself seems to pause. From ancient Babylonian Akitu festivals to Roman and later Gregorian calendar rites, this turning of the year was marked with reflection, release, vows, and prayers for renewal. Fires were lit, doors were opened, and rituals were performed to honor endings and invite new beginnings.

Living True Wellness’ New Year’s Eve guided meditation invites you into that timeless space between the old and the new. The practice offers a calm and intentional way to reflect on the year that has passed, release what no longer serves, and plant heartfelt intentions for the year ahead.

Rather than rushing toward midnight, this meditation will encourage you to slow down and turn inward to align with the natural rhythm of completion and renewal that this holiday represents. Step into the new year anchored in presence, illuminated by intention, and open to the unfolding possibilities ahead.

On the winter solstice, the night stretches to its fullest depth. It’s the threshold where light is reborn so quietly it can only be felt, not yet seen.

In the myth of Persephone, we remember her descent into darkness each winter. She journeys into the underworld not as punishment, but as a sacred turning inward—an initiation that transforms her from maiden to queen. While she dwells below, the earth waits: bare, silent, patient. Her return in the spring does not arrive in haste; it unfolds slowly, as all true renewal does.

The solstice carries the same teaching. Like Persephone, we are invited to patiently sit with what is hidden beneath the frozen surface, to honor the balance of light and shadow within, knowing that what feels dormant is not gone; it is simply gathering strength.

This solstice meditation is an invitation to rest at the gateway of winter, to breathe with the darkness, and to remember: becoming begins underground with the roots, long before the shoots break the surface.

Winter carries the energy of contraction. Cold tightens muscles, stiffens joints, and draws the body inward, reflecting the tamasic qualities of stillness and heaviness.

Gentle yoga stretching becomes a sacred thaw —warming the tissues, lubricating the joints, and inviting prana to move.

The new moon mirrors this inward cycle. As the darkest lunar phase, it holds the womb of potential: unseen, fertile, and receptive.

Practicing during this time isn’t about force or striving; it’s about listening deeply, releasing stagnation, and creating space for clarity and vitality to return. As the body opens, sattva naturally arises, restoring balance and subtle energy.

Yoga is the bridge that aligns us with ritam, the natural rhythm of rest, intention, and renewal. Join the Living True Wellness community this Friday at 11am for a free virtual yoga stretch class.
