Most parents are beaming when their newborn seems ahead of the game, and for good reason! Lifting their head early, holding tension through their arms, or trying to “sit up” long before they should...
But here’s what we as pediatric chiropractors see a little differently. 👀 Those early “strength” signs often aren’t about advanced development 👉 they’re about compensation.
When a baby’s nervous system is under stress, their little bodies go into protection mode. This can look like tightening muscles, arching their back, and holding tension where there should be softness and flow. What looks like strength is actually a body working overtime to feel safe. 😭
In those early months, we don’t want to see “strong.” We want to see loose, relaxed, wiggly, and flexible. Those are the signs of a calm, connected, and well-regulated nervous system.
If your baby seems “strong for their age,” that’s where Neurologically-Focused Chiropractic Care comes in. Helping your baby’s system unwind, regulate, and move through milestones in the right sequence, not just at the right speed. 💛 Learn more about how we can help at the link in our bio!
