Adjustment looks different for every child.
For some, it may take a few days.
For others, several weeks.
In the early days of care, we do not expect immediate participation or full cooperation. A child’s nervous system needs time to experience safety in a new environment.
There was a time when children were expected to “cry it out” to adjust.
Today, neuroscience and attachment research tell us otherwise.
Young children are not manipulating — they are communicating.
Crying during adjustment is not misbehavior. It is a stress response.
Rather than ignoring distress, we provide:
✔️ Secure, responsive relationships
✔️ Consistent and predictable routines
✔️ Co-regulation and reassurance
✔️ Gradual, developmentally appropriate expectations
Attachment does not create dependency.
It creates security — and security fosters true independence.
When children feel emotionally safe, engagement and confidence emerge naturally. 🌱
Every child adjusts — at their own pace.
At Kido Heaven, we prioritize attachment-informed, developmentally appropriate care. 🤍
