Our Boulder Valley Dressage Awards Banquet is coming up on Saturday, February 7, and we’d love to see you there. Please visit our website to sign up and bring your friends! www.bouldervalleydressage.org Info is on the homepage

If you’re deciding whether to attend, here are five great reasons to join us:

1. It’s a true celebration of our community.
This evening honors riders, volunteers, and supporters alike—and celebrates a season of effort, progress, and partnership. Whether you earned an award or simply showed up for your horse and your club, this night is for you.

2. It’s more party than ceremony.
Expect a relaxed, social evening with good food, cocktails, laughter, and time to reconnect with friends you may not see often enough during the busy season.

3. We’re debuting beautiful new freestyle trophies.
Thanks to the generosity of Sue Traylor, we’ll be awarding three new crystal trophies for freestyles, adding an extra sparkle to this year’s celebration.

4. Your participation supports the programs you enjoy.
The silent auction is one of the ways BVD funds educational opportunities, shows, and events throughout the year. Participating—by bidding, donating, or simply attending—helps keep these programs strong and accessible.

5. Because dressage is better together.
This night is a reminder that while much of our sport is practiced alone, we progress further when we come together to support, encourage, and celebrate one another.

Boulder Valley Dressage wishes everyone a joyful and peaceful holiday season!
Dear members, we are so grateful for each of you and the community we share. We have an exciting year ahead, starting with our Annual Awards Banquet on February 7th—a wonderful evening to come together, enjoy friendship, and celebrate the accomplishments of our riders and horses.

Our Education Committee is also hard at work planning inspiring programs and learning opportunities for 2025, and we can’t wait to share them with you.

Ever noticed when watching a freestyle how the “right” music selection can transform a performance into magic, but struggling to pick music of your own? You’re not alone. With endless options, many riders get stuck before they even begin. This interactive, online workshop provides participants with better clarity, more confidence, and the tools to select the perfect soundtrack for their dance with their horse.
Before Workshop: You’ll receive a Musical Selection Inventory to complete ahead of time to help you:
Reflect on your story and your horse’s personality
Identify musical styles that express your partnership
During the Workshop: we will cover…
How to choose music that celebrates your partnership and story
What constitutes a “GOOD” freestyle song

60-Minute Zoom Workshop on Selecting Freestyle Music
Now is the time to start planning your Dressage Musical Freestyle for the upcoming show season. Finding the right music for your dance can be daunting because there as so many options and it’s challenging to know where to start. This workshop will help you get some direction in selecting music that is perfect for you and your horse.

Before Workshop: You’ll receive a Musical Selection Inventory to complete ahead of time to help you:
• Reflect on your story and your horse’s personality
• Identify musical styles that express your partnership
• Arrive online ready to share and refine ideas

During the Workshop: we will include…
• How to choose music that celebrates your partnership
• What constitutes a “GOOD” freestyle song
• Essentials of tempo, BPMs, transitions, and phrasing
• Music Do’s & Don’ts for riders at every level
• What judges want to hear
• How to find great intro and ending music
• How to avoid common pitfalls
• How the right music choices make a freestyle stand out and get noticed.
