Are you really allergic to penicillin? You might be surprised.

BMC Allergy is now offering a dedicated Penicillin Allergy Clinic in Louisville to help patients safely and accurately determine if they’re truly allergic.

Many people carry a penicillin allergy label, but studies show that over 90% are not actually allergic.

Why it matters:
• More treatment options when you need antibiotics
• Access to first-line therapies that may work better
• Often lower-cost medications
• Fewer side effects from alternative antibiotics
• Helps reduce antibiotic resistance

Patients can be evaluated during a regular visit in Boulder or Louisville, or at our monthly Penicillin Allergy Testing Clinic in Louisville.

If you’ve ever been told you’re allergic, it may be worth taking a second look.

How long does a colonoscopy take?

The procedure itself usually takes 20–45 minutes, but the full process requires a bit more planning. From prep the day before to recovery after, it’s best to think of a colonoscopy as a multi-day commitment.

The good news? It’s one of the most effective ways to detect and prevent colorectal cancer.

Liver disease often develops silently. Many people with early liver conditions, such as fatty liver disease (MAFLD), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, have few or no symptoms, making screening and monitoring especially important.

To help evaluate liver health more quickly and comfortably, the BMC gastroenterology team now offers the iLivTouch Liver Scan. This non-invasive test helps assess liver stiffness and fat content in just minutes.

~ No needles
~ No downtime
~ Results interpreted by our board-certified gastroenterology specialists

If you’ve had abnormal liver labs or risk factors for liver disease, this screening may help guide next steps.

A special evening celebrating the people behind BMC. 🌟

At our recent Winter Gala, providers and staff came together to connect and celebrate the people who care for our community every day.

With more than 400 team members across five locations, BMC has grown over the years, but the sense of community among our teams remains strong. That collaboration helps us deliver the coordinated, personal care our patients rely on.

As a local, independent, physician-owned medical group, those connections have been at the heart of BMC since 1949. 💙

A community of 80 medical providers, and 300 support staff serving Boulder County and beyond.

Over 70 years ago in 1949, ten local doctors realized their collective dream when they opened the doors of Boulder Medical Center (BMC) for the first time. An innovative business model for its day, this new medical community brought together the area’s top primary care and specialty physicians under one roof. Establishing a close doctor-patient relationship and delivering the highest quality care was their top priority.

Since then, Boulder Medical Center has achieved outstanding growth. Today, BMC operates in four locations and serves the community with a network of 80 providers, 300 support staff, and 22 medical specialties. After 70 years in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of medicine, the founders’ core principles continue to guide our unique vision. Boulder Medical Center is still locally owned and independently operated, a healthcare model that gives physicians the freedom to put patients’ needs first while providing high-quality and compassionate care.
