3-Month Ceramic Implant Follow-Up Script

Hi! If you are now at your 3-month follow-up after your ceramic implant, congratulations—this is a big milestone in your healing.

At this point, you can usually stop wearing your Essix retainer during the day and use it only at night as a retainer, unless we give you different instructions.

Now we also start gently reintroducing function.
Begin eating on the opposite side of the implant first. After the first couple of bites, you can allow soft food to gently touch the implant area.

This helps the gum tissue slowly adapt, strengthen, and become more keratinized, which is important for long-term implant health.

About two weeks later, you can begin adding more texture—like thin slices of apple, radish, or carrot—to gently stimulate the gum tissue.

At this visit, we will also:

* Choose the shade for your future crown
* Take digital impressions
* Evaluate the gum tissue
* And if needed, do a small laser gum shaping procedure

Please continue using your end-tuft toothbrush around the implant and keep brushing carefully.

Remember: plaque is the number one enemy of implants, teeth, and gums. Keeping the area clean is one of the most important things you can do for long-term success.

You’re doing great—this is the stage where we start preparing for your final restoration.

Month 2 with Your Ceramic Implant
You’re doing great—now let’s level up your care a little bit ✨
At this stage, you should already be:
• Brushing with toothpaste
• Gently rinsing and using mouthwash
• Wearing your Essix 24/7 (only removing it to clean)
👉 What’s new this month?
Add your Endturft toothbrush to stimulate the gums and keep the area ultra-clean.
How to use it:
• Clean in 3 points around the implant: distal, middle, and mesial
• Do this on both sides: cheek side and tongue (lingual) side
• Be gentle but intentional—this helps keep the tissue healthy and strong
🦷 Remember: plaque is the #1 enemy of healing.
Keeping it low is key for long-term success.
👍 Good news:
• You can now use a straw
• Continue toothpaste + mouthwash
• Keep wearing your Essix consistently
⏳ You’re still in that important 3-month healing window, so keep supporting your body and your implant.
We’ll see you soon for your 3-months follow up 🙌

1-Month Implant Follow-Up ✨

You’ve made it to one month—beautiful progress.
Your body is still actively healing and building bone, so consistency really matters at this stage.

• Wear your Essix retainer 24/7 (remove only to clean)
• Brush the area gently but with intention
• You may now use toothpaste
• You can begin gentle rinsing and swishing

Remember, you are in a 3-month healing window where your body is strengthening the bone around the implant.
Make sure you’re supporting this process with the right nutrients and minerals.

We’ll see you at your 2-month follow-up to continue guiding your healing 🤍

Immediately After Implant Placement
“Hi! You’ve just had your dental implant placed, and I want to go over your post-operative instructions so you heal comfortably and successfully.
First, it’s normal to have some bleeding inside your Essix retainer. Don’t worry about cleaning that right away—it will naturally rinse out as you eat and drink. We actually don’t want the area to dry out, as keeping it slightly moist helps prevent complications like dry socket.
Please keep your Essix retainer in place continuously for the first three days. This is very important because it helps the tissue heal and shape properly. Try not to remove it during this time unless absolutely necessary.
During these three days, continue brushing—but only brush the opposite arch while keeping the Essix in place. Avoid brushing the surgical area for now.
If you feel any sharp or uncomfortable areas, you can carefully trim or smooth that spot using nail scissors or a nail file, then place it back in.
You may notice a bad taste during the first few days—this is normal and comes from food and natural healing processes. You can ignore this for now.
Avoid very hot liquids, as heat can deform the Essix retainer. Also, try to chew on the opposite side of your mouth and avoid hard, crunchy, or stiff foods so you don’t damage the retainer.
Make sure you stay on top of your medications—take them every six hours(pain killers) and antibiotics as prescribed to maintain proper levels in your system. Continue your antibiotics as directed.
And most importantly, get plenty of rest and allow your body to heal.
If you have any concerns, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here for you every step of the way.”

Why we recommend cleaning your mouth before breakfast
Overnight, your oral environment changes significantly. Salivary flow naturally decreases during sleep, and saliva is one of your primary defenses against harmful bacteria. With less saliva, oral bacteria accumulate and form a more concentrated biofilm on the teeth, tongue, and soft tissues.
These bacteria metabolize proteins and release byproducts (like volatile sulfur compounds), which is why “morning breath” occurs.
If you eat or drink immediately upon waking:
You introduce nutrients that bacteria can quickly metabolize

This can increase acid production, contributing to enamel demineralization

You may also swallow a higher bacterial load and inflammatory byproducts

A simple morning routine can help reduce this:
• Rinse first (salt water can support osmotic cleansing)
• Gargle to help clear the oropharyngeal area
• Brush before eating to disrupt the overnight biofilm
This supports:
Lower bacterial load before food exposure

Reduced acid production after meals

Improved gum health and oral microbiome balance

Brushing before breakfast is a small habit—but it can have a meaningful impact on both oral and systemic health.

We can evaluate your teeth, gums and oral bones to guide you better with your oral health !

Splinting front implants with a bridge, will improve their longevity !
Ussually the bone in the front area is thin so we need to choose a thin diameter to replace missing teeth. When we need to replace 2 or more front teeth, splinting is recommended to improve their longevity. When two implants are connected with a bridge, the biting forces are shared across both implants instead of concentrated on one.
• Single crowns → each implant takes 100% of the load
• Splinted crowns → forces are distributed (50/50 or dynamically shared)

👉 This reduces:
• Peak stress on each implant
• Risk of microfractures in zirconia
• Bone overload at the crest

2. Reduction of bending forces (moment control)

Implants don’t have a periodontal ligament → they don’t absorb shock like natural teeth.

With single implants:
• Off-axis forces create bending moments
• These moments concentrate stress at the implant neck (weakest zone)

With a bridge:
• The structure acts as a rigid unit
• Converts bending into compressive forces across both implants

Call us if you need to replace a missing tooth with ceramic ( zirconia ) implant! We will evaluate and let you know if you are a good candidate for implant with prf, laser, ozone, piezosurgery.
