Windhorse was pleased to host a recent gathering with Mental Health Colorado along with Boulder community leaders working on the front lines of mental health support. We discussed statewide advocacy efforts, barriers to care, and pressing policy issues impacting providers and community members.

Our director, Jeanne Christensen recently attended the YATA Conference in San Diego: There were 400 people here for the YATA Conference 2025. I learned that when YATA had its first conferences, it was held in Boulder, but it's been here in San Diego for the last several years. It's good to be at sea level! I attended talks on leadership, shifting paradigms in mental health treatment, experiential therapy, ethical and clinical implications of human-AI relationships, and the power of leaving one's comfort zone. I also toured two local treatment centers: True Life Center and BrightQuest. I got to meet many different providers and form inspiring new collaborations. It was fun visiting with Dimitri, Freddy, and Marcus from WIMH. Windhorse had great representation all around!

Fun included swimming in the chilly Pacific Ocean, learning some hula dancing at the luau, eating some wonderful seafood and other local cuisine, and lots of walking along the bay and the beach. The sunsets were beautiful. I hope to come back this way again, and I highly recommend visits to YATA and to San Diego!

Thanks to our friends in the community who stopped by our Open House last week, including Marcus who flew in from the Windhorse in Portland! It was great to show off our new location and celebrate our recent nonprofit status with you. We appreciate your support!!

Anna is currently pursuing her Masters of Social Work at Smith College and has studied psychology and studio art. She previously worked at a nonprofit outpatient treatment center and brings energy and enthusiasm to Windhorse.

Several staff from Windhorse, including Jeanne, Blake, Kathy and Jamie attended Naropa’s 50th Anniversary Gala event on Saturday, September 21st. It was an evening of celebration for Naropa’s 50 years as a founder and leader of contemplative education in the United States. President Charles Leif, JD, spoke to Naropa’s founding and history, and to his and the Board’s vision for the next 50 years. Fun and nourishing connections were made between the Naropa and Windhorse communities, with good sharing about our complimentary views and approaches toward healthy communities and enlightened society.
