Frasier, located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, offers an exceptional Boulder setting, close to everywhere you’d like to be, with an enriching lifestyle and an involved community. Boulder is recognized as one of America’s best-educated, most active, happiest, and healthiest communities. It is a top travel and recreation destination with an average of 300 sunny days each year. Since 1960, Frasier has provided exceptional quality services to seniors. As a not-for-profit Life Plan community, the needs of our residents always come first. Our residents in independent living, assisted living, memory support, and our skilled nursing center (including respite and rehabilitation care) reflect the diverse and eclectic population of our well-known university town, which is home to the University of Colorado. Frasier is affiliated with the Mountain Sky United Methodist Conference (formerly the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church) on twenty acres of land donated by Mr. Elmer Frasier. Since then, 300 apartments, 38 assisted living apartments, a 54-bed skilled nursing facility, multiple dining venues, and an award-winning wellness center comprise Frasier. As a not-for-profit organization founded upon the principle of service, Frasier endeavors to provide tangible benefits both to our residents and to the greater Boulder community. While these social accountability efforts focus on caring for seniors, we are proud of our partnerships with diverse organizations that work to improve the community in areas such as health, wellness, service, and leadership.

Faces of Frasier: Resident Edition! Meet Juan, a resident who has spent his life at the intersection of science, music, and global diplomacy. As a former director of a major geophysical institute, he has seen firsthand how research and education shape our world. He continues to ask big questions, both in science as he continues his research, and about how to make communities like ours better for people living with vision loss.

Quick Q&A with Juan:
Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you pick?
A: Argentinian barbeque. It’s different than the way of doing it here, and it takes a lot of time to cook. For food, I am spoiled from places like Argentina, Italy, and Austria.

Q: What is something your grandparents or elders taught you that you still remember?
A: The father of my mother acted as the model for me, he was not a scientist, but he was an engineer. He was director of the electrical power plant in Italy where we lived at the beginning of my life. Looking back, he was what probably put me on the track of science.

Q: If you could master any skill instantly, what would you pick?
A: I’m missing playing the organ. But, I have given talks [at the church] across the street on the organ as an instrument, on music perception, and so on. I used to play across the street, they have one of the biggest organs in Boulder.

We are grateful he continues to share his global perspective, scientific insight, and lived experience with the Frasier community. See you next time!

Our residents recently teamed up with 7th and 8th graders at Horizons K-8 School, teaching knitting and crocheting in their art classes. This meaningful exchange is part of the expansion of our Art for the Ocean: A Coral Collective into the broader Boulder community. Through hands-on creativity, participants of all ages are helping shine a light on the urgent environmental challenges facing our oceans.

The result? A collective coral reef, made up of hundreds of hand-crocheted and knitted pieces from across the community - set to be exhibited at Boulder Museum Of Contemporary Art in fall 2026. Want to dive deeper into the Coral Collective? Click the link below to learn more.

Faces of Frasier: Team Member Edition! Meet Hudson, who has done “a little bit of everything” at Fraiser from dining to hospitality to driving. Hudson now works in Frasier Care as a Resident Emergency Responder. He helps with a variety of care needs across campus, from band aids to falls, all while balancing his exercise science studies and his club rugby team!

Quick Q&A with Hudson:
Q: If you could master any skill instantly, what would it be?
A: I think cooking! I really enjoy cooking so being able to master any recipe would be one of the coolest things in the world.

Q: What is your favorite Frasier memory?
A: Back when I worked in dining, we were all really good friends as wait staff. After every dinner, we’d all get together and have Frasier family dinner after work. I am still good friends with some of my old coworkers!

Q: If you could give a TED Talks on any topic, what would it be?
A: The wonders of anatomy and physiology! In exercise science, we learn a lot, and it’s so incredibly interesting, all the complexities of anatomy. There's a lot of stuff that people generally don’t know.

We’re thrilled Hudson chose to come back and continue his career at Frasier!

We’re proud to share that Christie Hinrichs, President and CEO of Frasier, will begin her term as Board Chair of LeadingAge in January 2026.

LeadingAge represents more than 5,400 nonprofit aging services providers nationwide, and Christie steps into this role at a pivotal time for the field.

“Without staff, there is no care,” said Hinrichs. “Workforce challenges affect real people every day, and we must never lose sight of the human connection at the heart of our work.”

Christie has served on the LeadingAge Board since 2015 and brings decades of leadership experience across hospice, home care, acute care, and nonprofit senior living. At Frasier, she leads our life plan community serving nearly 500 older adults with the support of more than 300 team members.

Faces of Frasier: Resident Edition! Meet Donna, a resident known for her leadership skills. She had a remarkable career in the textile and quilting industry in New York City before moving to Frasier six years ago. She quickly became a neighborhood leader, then head of the public areas committee, and now is president of our Resident Council!

Quick Q&A with Donna:
Q: If you could master any skill instantly, what would it be?
A: Creative writing, I’d love to be a wordsmith. My husband writes, mostly catalogs of all the trips we’ve taken together. I’d like to be able to sit down and write a story.

Q: Do you have a favorite spot on Frasier campus?
A: We play mahjong every Monday and Saturday in the Prairies Business Suite. It’s nice because it’s quiet, and it’s easy to access for all of us. It’s a place I enjoy going because I enjoy what I’m doing.

Q: Is there something your grandparents or elders taught you that you still remember?
A: My mother was a real great seamstress, and she taught me how to sew at 5 years old. I sewed a lot when I was little, I made my dolls and their clothes. I worked for a sewing pattern company early in my career. That is how I got into the
textile industry. I made all of the garments that I wore when I commentated art and fashion shows for over 20 years!

Donna is one of many residents who opens her doors, sharing her leadership -and antique quilting collection - with everyone at Frasier!

Boulder is recognized as one of America’s best-educated, most active, happiest, and healthiest communities. It is a top travel and recreation destination with an average of 300 sunny days each year. Since 1960, Frasier has provided exceptional quality services to seniors and is Colorado’s only accredited Life Plan Community. Our residents in independent living, assisted living, and our skilled nursing community (including memory support, respite, and rehabilitation care) reflect the diverse and eclectic population of our well-known university town, which is home to the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado. Frasier was founded by the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church. The groundbreaking was held on June 8, 1958, on twenty acres of land contributed by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Frasier, and we welcomed our first residents in April 1960. Subsequently, 300 independent living apartments, 38 assisted living apartments, a skilled nursing center, an arts and education center, and an award-winning wellness center have been constructed on the campus. As a not-for-profit organization founded upon the principle of service, Frasier endeavors to provide tangible benefits both to our residents and to the greater Boulder community.
