💫It’s ok to say goodbye.

Goodbyes can be difficult. Sometimes we hold on for too long…. Scared of what the separation might bring. When we say goodbye to our kids at bedtime, at school drop off or at grandmas house there might be tears.

💫It’s still ok to say goodbye.

With every goodbye comes at least a little grief. If we allow ourselves and our children to move through the grief with support it won’t seem so difficult the next time and we won’t get stuck.

We are saying goodbye to Instagram for now. Seems there are better ways for you all to reach us. We would rather speak to you in person anyhow.

So find us on our website and make a phone call. We look forward to saying HELLO to you there.

📖Monday Book Series📖

“Because Descriptive Praise is so specific, it cannot be argued with; it is a fact. You’re not making sweeping, exaggerated statements that can easily be disputed or discounted. Instead, you are describing, very specifically and in detail, what your child is doing that pleased you. Maybe he did the right thing, or maybe it was just barely okay, but it was an improvement on what he might have done. You can even notice and mention when your child is not doing anything wrong.”

― Noel Janis-Norton, Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting: Five Strategies That End the Daily Battles and Get Kids to Listen the First Time

As we ease through the second week of a new year, I feel it's important to acknowledge we may not need to make big plans to resolve to do anything big. I encourage you to just do the next right thing. Take one step at a time.

Whether we have connected in the past, are working together now, or have not met, I deeply value your commitment to being a parent and sharing your experiences with me.

Recently, I have come across a course that I would love to share with parents as a resource. The Evolutionary Parents Institute is offering an online course with a creative parenting community to explore the joys and challenges of parenting on a deeper level.

I hope this can serve you well if you choose to register for the course. Additionally, I want you to know that I am always just a phone call away.

“The Power of Attention: What you focus on, you get more of. The Power of Love: See the best in one another. The Power of Acceptance: This moment is as it is. The Power of Perception: No one can make you angry without your permission. The Power of Intention: Conflict is an opportunity to teach. The Power of Free Will: The only person you can make change is yourself. The Power of Unity: Focus on connecting instead of trying to be “special.”

Finding ways to connect and calm down with your kiddo are important.

Here are 5 easy activities to have some calm time at home:
-cuddle up and watch a movie
-try out some yoga poses
-name 5 favorite things
-try a guided meditation for kids
-draw or color

And sometimes not trying too hard to connect with them is ok too- if you do the activities alone they may come find you and connect if you’re available.

📖Monday Book Series📖

“The bond between parent and child is the child’s primary source of emotional health. It gives your child the capacity to have satisfying relationships the rest of his or her life.”
― Becky A. Bailey, I Love You Rituals

Notice this doesn’t say “perfect relationships” it says “satisfying”.
Just keep the bond in mind. Respect it. And repair it when it gets dinged.
