Plantar Fasciitis Self Help Treatements

Foot pain shouldn't be a life sentence! In addition to help from a physical therapist, here's some things you can do at home:

1. Try to cut back on jogging and walking for a while to let the pain subside. Replacing them with activities like biking and swimming are great options.

2. Ice the area for 10 minutes after activity.

3. Massage the painful/tender area by gently rubbing it from side to side with your hands.

4. Use footwear with good arch support and shock absorbency.

5. Heel pads or cups may support and cushion the heel during recovery.

6. If overweight - consider that less body weight can drastically reduce the pressure on your feet while walking.

For help with both individualized stretching and strengthening to help alleviate your pain, come in and see us!
