Big reminder for today: you don’t have to be perfect to move forward. 🌟

Writing my book (which will be out in early 2026) has come with massive lessons over the past few years.

When I felt the call, the pull, the desire to put my words and wisdom into writing, I thought, “terrific, I’ll help more people heal their bodies. I’ll teach them what I know so far. I’ll inspire them to go beyond quick fixes and release the deep tension that’s keeping them so stuck.”

What I didn’t foresee is just how much it would teach me.

As a specialist doctor of physical therapy, I’ve learned from textbooks, research articles, degree programs, teachers, mentors, and most importantly thousands of patients over the past 20+ years.

When I look back on the course of my career, I see so many unexpected discoveries. Things I didn’t know I’d learn. Hardships I’d have to overcome.

And the same thing happened with my book.

In writing it I answered questions I didn’t know I had, found new ways to describe anatomy concepts so they’re easy to understand, and elevated the methodology I’ve honed over so many years.

The creative process drew forth my vulnerability (a strength), and layered meaningful insights that wove together.

And this morning, as I reflected on this book journey, which mirrors my professional journey as a DPT and personal journey as an athlete, I’m humbled once again.

This book has evolved many times. I’ve hit roadblocks, had to realign, had to make identity shifts, even changed publishers.

And it’s all because I’ve taken the time and intention to make it mean something.

I couldn’t just write a book about what to do to heal and prevent injuries. But also about who to BE.

To be someone who grows, who moves forward, who learns, who listens, who does better. That’s who I aspire to keep being.

And that’s what I want for you too.

Because it’s not ever about perfection. It’s about moving forward. In your health. In your life!

First place master, amidst a sea of 20 year olds, and an angel runner moment to top it off!!

I’m a huge fan of Thanksgiving. I love the traditions, our family at the Turkey Trot getting exercise first thing, time together, minus all the gift giving. And this year was no different. Loved the time with family as always.

And I always look forward to this hometown holiday 5k too.

But wow. Just wow. This year’s race experience was yet another spontaneously fun, joyful, powerful, unexpected high that’s hard to fully explain. And I’ve had a lot of these this year. Not just with running but with our wedding, my book, my new coaching program, the gifts that come from living your life on purpose.

Early on, maybe a half mile in, this other woman pulled up to me and we matched stride for stride throughout the. Whole. Rest. Of. The. Race. (Still blows my mind).

We shared an unspoken power. Without saying a word, we flew through the streets, stayed together till the last hundred meters maybe, and totally crushed it. Stronger together.

I don’t know if you’ve experienced something like this.. but the focus that comes more effortlessly with a stranger perfectly matched in fitness and pace is pretty unreal.

I pretended she was one of my current teammates ( or Laura3) or one of my college teammates ( or .laura). Somehow the strength comes easier with ✨her✨. And the competitive turned collaborative woman in me is really proud of this sentiment. It’s so much fun with teammates!!!

After the finish line this mystery angel and I shared a moment. She’s a collegiate runner and I age 44. She said, “you were SO strong!” and I said “YOU were so strong!”

Relish moments like this with your teammates and colleagues and friends and siblings. Look for them. Expect them. Revere them.

Who knows when an angel moment will come along and give you extra wings 💞🪽. It’s such a gift.

Well half marathon (turned to 5k for me) was 2.5 weeks ago, and I didn’t get a race recap up… but I did write one on the plane ride home!

So here’s the recap below.. just in time for my next 5k— tomorrow at our family’s longtime hometown turkey Trot tradition.

On my road to dipping below 19 again in the 5k— yet now in my 40s (my PR is 17:16 from about 10 years ago. I’m loving the short fast stuff lately). This is back at altitude so we’ll see how it goes!!

Running was my first love.

(Actually soccer was, but it involved a lot of running).

And I teared up a little today on the Indy 5k race course.

Not tears of loss or disappointment but tears of love for a sport that’s taught me so much.

Tears of gratitude for being able to run.

Tears of enjoyment for the woman at the start line who complimented my shoes. For the one I passed who I told she looked strong.. then at the finish she said that watching my steady form helped pull her along. For the volunteers I thanked at the end.

I think I used to run angry, anxious, with something to prove. Today I ran light and energized by the gains I see I’ve made over so many years.

I didn’t dip under 19 minutes like I’d hoped. But I ran expecting that I was, holding a 6:12 pace, then not looking at my watch in the last mile. Though the 6:00 finisher didn’t come, I still held a solid 6:12.

And got to cheer on my half marathon teammates through the finish— so much fun!!

I’ve had such an enjoyable trip, one I wasn’t sure I was going to make.

And it says to me that we should be sure to do what we can while we can.

Because no matter the outcome, there’s always a gain, a lesson, a friendship, an experience to have fully.

So proud of my progress in running at this stage of life. And proud of my past self for working so hard and having so much heart.

Why I’m not running the Indy Half Marathon tomorrow…

After months of consistent training — through wedding season, book edits, business launches, and patient care marathons — a random tendon pain cropped up two weeks ago.

It was frustrating, as usual.
It slowed me down on my final long run.
It broke my confidence and stole a bit of joy.

But I caught myself before the spiral.
I chose not to let it steal the bigger picture. ✨

I chose to stop.
To not push through.
To rest — just three days.

I chose the quicker healing path.
The harder one for us crazy runners. 😅

Because when I say I help runners run pain-free,
it’s not just something I say.
It’s something I live.

I gave my body the attention it needed — and it got better, faster.

I came to Indy not knowing if I’d race the half or switch to the 5K.
And I chose the 5K. 🙌

So now I’m racing excited tomorrow —
with less risk of reinjury,
more trust in my intuition,
and so much heart. ❤️‍🔥

I’m aiming to see 18: in my finish time tomorrow — for the first time since 2019!

Right now, I’m meant to run with flow, power, form, and fun.
That’s what elite means to me these days.

✨ Trust the intelligence of your body.
Don’t override it.
Don’t push through pain.

Get in the flow — and let your body give you exactly what you need. 🪽
