Karolina Walsh Psychotherapy, LLC

Karolina Walsh Psychotherapy, LLC I offer body-centered psychotherapy from a trauma informed, anti-oppression, anti-racist lens. I work on three levels: the body, mind, and spirit.

My approach to therapy is to support and facilitate the growth and healing already present in the individual, couple, or family. On the level of the body I use body-centered techniques that help to process feelings and beliefs from the past that unconsciously guide our decisions. On the level of the mind I use psycho-education to keep my clients informed about the neurbiological and theoretical process unfolding in the therapy sessions. On the level of spirit I support the natural healing process that we ready the ground for, and for the intuitive guidance present in my clients and in me. I have received training in Virginia Satir's family systems model which promotes change on a relational level. I also have training in Douglas Brady's Psychology of Symptoms model which sees the mind and body as united and utilizes this relationship to bring about healing from disease, body symptoms, and illness.

In psychology there is a bias towards working through hard things. This makes sense since a lot of the reason people enter therapy is to get unstuck, and this often means working through hard stuff. But (while it may seem counterintuitive), there are some folks who need permission to leave, take a b

Check it out and pass along to others who might enjoy it.

My partner recently lost their father, whom they have had not contact for may years. Though his death was coming for a long time it was still a shock. My partner has left to be back with family and take care of things related to their dad’s passing. I have the tendency to want to help too much or ...

Blog! Ready for a new relationship? Got a great question here. Read on for what we need to let go of and hold onto to as we embark on the journey of relationship.

Unfortunately, these images of a perfect relationship set up an almost insurmountable obstacle, because people aren’t perfect! That’s just a reality, and lots of stuff needs to be navigated in most relationships. So this idea of what are you willing to give up for true love is a great question b...

Blog! #065 - Trans surgeries in the era of Covid-19. Thanks to the very special people who contributed to this post and to the therapist who asked a great question! I hope you enjoy! This is all part of my Asking For a Friend series, if you, or someone you know, has a question, and wants another perspective on what they're working with have them shoot me an email!

It seems to me that if we lived in a culture where gender-affirming surgeries were acknowledged as life saving and the barriers to these surgeries were removed then the pain of having to postpone would be more manageable. I imagine all the barriers to getting these surgeries, and the prejudice from

Asking for a Friend - Navigating disorganized and anxious partnerships.

Check out some hope and understanding from this person's sharing and my response. And definitely check out it out if feelings of frustration in partnership are coming up!

Hi Karolina, My partner has a disorganized attachment style and I have an anxious attachment style. Sometimes when we are triggered it feels like I’m being pushed away energetically, often through shortness in our interactions. My response is usually to give them lots of space and not engage, whi

One of the most useful tools for learning and growing throughout my personal and professional development as a psychotherapist has been to ask for support. I have had supervisors, mentors, and guides who have gone before me in so many ways who I turn towards when I need help. In the time of coronavi

Hey y'all, check out this new blog post about The Three Minute game! It's a super simple and useful practice to help with calming s*x anxiety and opening up to greater sensual pleasure. ❤️

My own experience with s*x has been a long journey, which still continues. I started out not knowing anything about s*x and it being treated in my family and in my religion as a purely procreative act. Pleasure, consent, desire, and fun were not mentioned in any s*x talk or education I received. Als

Blog! #062 - Relational transistions with disorganized attachment. Check out this one if you find reuniting with your partner is stressful at times. I wish I had this info years ago, so please enjoy and share!

Have you ever noticed that when you're reuniting with your partner after being apart for the day or a few days that you feel a bit (or actually a lot!) anxious? Cognitively you know you love this person and enjoy being with them but you get a bit twitchy as you’re heading to see them? Then right a...

Blog #061 - Some useful tips to help yourself out with anxiety, and fear. Remember you're absolutely normal and there are things that help!

I know the experience of anxiety deeply, and about the running from it as well. The body sensations, energetic experiences, hot racing thoughts, and the drive to fix it, or collapse in the face of it, are all familiar to me. I often ask folks to slow down when they say they are anxious so we can fin

Blog #60 - Dating with Disorganized Attachment
Hi folks, thank you for reading my blogs over the years, I started publishing them back in 2014! Here's to six years of writing! As I grow I want to publish content that represents what I've learned. This piece is near and dear to me, I hope you enjoy!

When I was in grad school a teacher asked the folks in the class to raise their hands to indicate which attachment style they most identified with. For most of us at the beginning of our grad school experience we were just starting to learn what “attachment style” meant. We “knew” that secur...
