✨ Magnesium: A Mighty Mineral ✨

Magnesium is one of the most abundant minerals in the human body and a key player in over 300 biochemical reactions. It supports energy production, muscle and bone health, heart rhythm, brain and nervous system function, blood sugar balance, detoxification, and hormone regulation.

Many people are deficient due to stress, poor diet, digestive issues, medications, or excess soda intake. While foods like leafy greens, beans, nuts, seeds, quinoa, avocado, and dark chocolate are great sources, supplementation can be helpful when needs are higher.

Different forms of magnesium support different concerns—from sleep and stress to muscle cramps, heart health, energy, and cognition—so choosing the right form matters.

As always, nutrients are best personalized. If you’re dealing with fatigue, muscle tension, anxiety, headaches, or hormone imbalances, magnesium may be worth a closer look. 💚

Big health goals often come with big pressure — especially at the start of a new year. But trying to change everything at once can leave us feeling overwhelmed and stuck.

A reduction strategy focuses on one or two high-impact changes instead of a full overhaul. By asking “how?” and breaking a goal down into smaller, realistic actions, you create momentum that actually lasts.

Small, intentional shifts make room for big-picture health. 📸

What’s a simple change for you that would make everything else feel more possible?

Support Your Glycemic Response ✨

Blood sugar balance is about more than carbs—it’s about how you eat, move, and manage stress.

Glucose fuels energy and brain function, but swings can impact mood, energy, and metabolic health.

Support steady blood sugar by:
• Pairing carbs with protein, fiber, and healthy fats
• Choosing whole foods over processed
• Moving for 10–20 minutes after meals
• Managing stress + prioritizing sleep

Small, consistent habits can make a big difference in how your body responds. Read more on our blog: https://bouldernaturalhealth.com/glycemic-response-support/

This time of year can feel demanding and present a sense of busyness. This month, we will be highlighting Dr. Julie Neal’s Top 5 health habits that she does daily or weekly to keep her balanced - mind, body and soul.

5: Schedule weekly personal time ⏱️

This one is often hardest to commit to, but provides great rewards for long-term mental stamina and balance. Use this time to pursue creative projects, self-care like exercise or massage, cook healthy meals, connect with friends or simply relax. Let this time be an opportunity to step away from the daily grind and nourish yourself.

4: Skincare ritual 🛁

An all-natural skin-care routine in the morning and evening can help start or end your day and prevent your skin from feeling dry. Dr. Julie's favorite skin-care products are the Evan Healy milk cleanser, moisturizer and the rose facial serum.

3: Eat foods with color 🌈

Try to consume antioxidant-rich foods every day. The darker and richer the food color, the better. A dino kale salad with, apples or pears, walnuts or pecans, pomegranate seeds, feta or blue cheese and a raspberry vinaigrette is Dr. Julie's got-to! You can add sliced hard boiled eggs on top for protein.

These salads provide healthy fiber, antioxidants, vitamin C and protein. Other ideas include blueberry smoothies, steal cut oatmeal with blueberries, walnuts, h**p seeds - and a little butter and honey as a part of this antioxidant plan.

2: Exercise 🏋️‍♀️

At least thirty minutes or more 3 times per week - preferably outside in the sunshine. If it’s cold, snowy or rainy, you can layer up with vests, jackets, gloves, or a hat. Walk briskly, run, or do a combination of both. An at home option would be 15-20 minutes of free weights and sit-ups on a therapeutic ball. Maintaining strength, flexibility, managing stress are the main goals with this routine in mind.

#1 - Sleep 😴✨

Getting a good night’s sleep is fundamental to our health and wellbeing. While we sleep, our bodies are regenerating and healing tissues, metabolizing fat, normalizing blood sugar and balancing hormones. Restful sleep helps with concentration and memory, decreased stress, improved immune function, balanced moods and, of course, and increased energy.
