๐ŸŒŽ Happy Earth Day! Earth Day is a great chance to help your kids understand how to care for the world around them. Here are some tips for younger kids:

For preschool age (2โ€“5):
๐Ÿ’ง Talk about why we take care of our planet
๐ŸŒฑ Show how we use water, soil, and other resources every day
โ™ป๏ธ Practice simple habits like turning off lights, saving water, and reusing materials

For early elementary age (6โ€“8):
๐ŸŒฟ Start bigger conversations about helping your community
๐Ÿ’ก Brainstorm together ways to reduce impactโ€”grow a garden, use reusable bottles, or conserve energy at home

These small, age-appropriate conversations and habits build a lifelong respect for the environment and help kids feel like theyโ€™re part of something bigger. ๐ŸŒโœจ

Planning on spring cleaning? Involve your kids! ๐Ÿงผ๐Ÿงน. Here are some ways spring cleaning can improve your child's development:

๐ŸŒธ Practice gross motor skills by sweeping, dusting, and picking up toys
๐ŸŒธ Practice fine motor skills by folding clothes & sorting small items (no choking hazards)
๐ŸŒธ Learn responsibility by letting them pick their tasks & setting a completion time
๐ŸŒธ Practice giving back by donating outgrown clothes & unused toys
๐ŸŒธ Feel appreciated by congratulating your child on a job well done & thanking them for their help

Remember, never have your child handle any chemicals, excessive amounts of dust, or anything too heavy & out of reach!

The MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, and rubella) is the best way to protect your child from measles and routine vaccination consists of two doses at ages 12-15 months and 4-6 years. Because measles is spreading so much in Utah, your child may be eligible to get earlier doses of the MMR vaccine:

- Infants aged 6-11 months can receive an early, extra dose
- Children ages 1-4 can receive their second dose early as long as it has been 28 days since their first dose

Talk to your pediatrician if you have questions about timing or if your child is not fully vaccinated - weโ€™re here to help guide you! ๐Ÿ’™

If your child has a high fever and rash, or suspect they have measles, stay home to avoid spreading it since it is highly contagious. Call your pediatrician first for further instructions before visiting a clinic, urgent care, or emergency room.

Spring is here ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒž Seasonal allergies are often referred to as "hay fever," but there's actually no fever, and hay doesn't have to be involved! Seasonal allergies are caused by an allergic reaction to pollen from trees, grasses, weeds, or seasonal molds. Symptoms in kids often include sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, and itchy or watery eyes.

Helping your child avoid their allergens is best, but not always possible. Here are some tips to help alleviate or prevent allergy symptoms in your kids:

- Use air conditioning to limit exposure to pollen at home or in the car
- Keep windows closed during pollen season, especially on windy days
- Keep the house clean and dry to reduce mold
- Bathe furry pets regularly or wipe off outdoor pets when they come inside
- Wash hands and face regularly
- Use nasal saline mist (or rinses for older kids) to help rinse allergens from the nose

Talk to your pediatrician if your child's allergy symptoms aren't improving - we can help with next steps!
