SDCH is a unique organization providing specialty health care services for Utah & surrounding states.

The SDCH Campus serves individuals who require ongoing treatment or rehabilitation due to an unexpected accident, illness or serious medical condition. With the capacity to provide care for over 225 patients at any given time, the Hospital serves the specialty healthcare needs of over 1,000 individuals annually. The SDCH Campus offers long-term acute care, and long and short term specialty care services.

We feel truly blessed to have had these two incredible pet therapy teams visiting us for the past seven years. They are valued members of the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Laurie and her beagle Emme, who now live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, visit us whenever they come to Utah to see their family. When Laurie and her sweet Dolly, a beagle-boxer mix, were living here in Utah, they visited us in person. During COVID, they also connected with our third-floor patients through FaceTime, and we are deeply grateful for their efforts. Their visits bring endless smiles, laughter, and love to everyone they touch.

Last year, Dolly crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and Emme has stepped in beautifully, continuing to bring comfort through FaceTime and in-person visits. Once a month on Saturday mornings, Meagan, Julie, and their adorable Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Auggie, come to bring joy to our patients! Auggie’s cuddles and cheerful spirit make those Saturday mornings truly special. Laurie, Emme, Meagan, Julie, and Auggie are like family to us. are so thankful for their volunteer dedication and for sharing their beloved dogs with us. They truly are our lucky charms. Thank you all!
