Frankfort resident Marcus Whitlow was a longtime smoker and knew it was important to get his annual CT Lung Cancer Screening at Riverside. When a screening revealed cancer, Marcus immediately began treatment at Riverside Cancer Institute, where radiation and immunotherapy eliminated the cancer. Congratulations to our October 2025 Award honoree, Carrie O’Connor, Oncology RN/Frankfort OPC!
Carrie’s nomination read: “Carrie has always been a true winner every day through my husband’s cancer treatments at the Frankfort Cancer Center. However, she went above and beyond in August. My husband was scheduled for a PET scan on 8/19. He was being prepped for beginning radiation treatments and had various appointments scheduled that were all related. When he arrived for the scan, his blood sugar level was too high, and it had to be postponed. Time was crucial, and other appointments would need to be changed because of the cancellation. Radiology could reschedule for 8/22, but how would he get his sugar level low enough? His primary care physician was completely full and backed up. Carrie worked with the primary care physician, the physician’s nurse, radiology, and my husband to get his medication adjusted in time for the next available PET scan appointment. Thanks, Carrie!”
