As many of us observed Veterans Day today, members of the Farwell 4-H sewing club paid tribute to a local veteran in a very special way. Mr. Robert Fowler, who previously served in the Navy, was presented with a Quilt of Valor. A Quilt of Valor® (QOV) is a quality, handmade quilt that is machine or hand-quilted. It is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. The Quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.”
The quilt was presented at a Veterans' Day program at Farwell High School. The service was made complete with a virtual guest speaker, Brigadier General Mike Kaloostian; recognizing current and former service men/women present at the service; and wonderful patriotic music provided by the Farwell High School band.
Words cannot express the gratitude we feel towards all our service men/women and their families. THANK YOU!!!!
🍀17 4-Hers worked on piecing this quilt together; many had never sewn anything before.
🍀A special thank you to Camille Osterkamp for leading this project and organizing all of our youth and adult volunteers.
🍀And a huge shout out to Freda Neie for completing the quilting/backing!!
What a privilege to honor Mr. Fowler and all our veterans today!
