I am happy to report I have been seeing patients and doing OMT for 2 months now as an independent D.O.!! This is a much better success than last year when I closed after being open for 3 weeks due to no patients and no money. 1 year ago I started a 7 month stint as a Locums Tenens primary care physician at Huggins Hospital's outpatient internal medicine office. I greatly appreciated the stability, income and opportunity to do primary care and OMT. However, it is wonderful to be my own boss and it is such an honor to have patients search me out due to the work I have done or because patients had a good experience with OMT in the past.

If you know someone (or yourself) who is in need of a little extra Osteopathic TLC, please send them my way! I can help with pain (back, neck, shoulders, hips, headaches, etc) as well as chronic/acute sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, concussions, infant breast feeding issues, etc. I'm seeing patients in Bow, Newport and Wolfeboro. I accept cash and checks: $150 ($120 for children) for initial visit and $100 ($60 for children) for follow up appointments. See my website for more details.

Hi Everyone!
Thank you for your support. Although my practice has only been open for actual business for 3 weeks, I'm doing a 180 degree turn. I applied for an employed family medicine position at a nearby office. This process has been interesting. I was bound and determined to open my own practice. I think this resolve was more to go through the process of opening my practice to say I could do it and learn what all the steps were, rather than running it. I take the responsibility of being a physician seriously and when you add that to being a business owner, I just don't think that's where my strengths lie.

I loved being a family medicine physician for the relationships I had with patients and the intimacy of learning about so many concerns that people don't just share with anyone other than their closest friends/relatives and their physicians. I will still do OMT on my patients and I hope to be able to offer consults since I am soon to be an Osteopathic Neuromuscular Medicine (ONMM) specialist. I also want to offer Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for patients and staff members as well as educational classes for patients regarding lifestyle contributions to health. I have concerns about being employed, but I think I'm going into this position with my eyes open, having an awareness of the system and the pressures that will be placed on me. I'm hoping to of-set these with what I've listed above and talking openly with the administration.

Thank you again for your support.

I am in the business of osteopathic manipulation (OMT) helping patients to re-establish their inherent health. I am also working to heal the land by removing invasive species (Oriental Bittersweet, multiflora rose, burning bush, etc) to allow native species to flourish...and maybe planting a few to help the diversity.
Service berry (aka Juneberry, Shadbush, Saskatoon Berry) is the epitome of native/local. I'll never forget the first time I picked and ate service berries with Sam Thayer in Wisconsin. He would pick buckets-full and then smash and dry them on a sheet pan on the top of is car!!

The berries are kind of like blueberries, but more subtle in flavor and they don't travel well, so they are not great for large commodity trade. Ironically the plant is more tolerant of various environmental conditions than the more picky blueberry. I bought a service berry plant from Ayn Whytemare at Foundwell Farm in Pembroke last year and it is still alive!
