Took a little walk in the woods a couple days ago. Lots of green popping up all over the place. Just a few more weeks until the new coop and front garden work gets going. Still in design phase, anyone using a chicken moat and/or managed pasturing?

Want to grow food while keeping the forest intact? Here are three ways to do it:

1️⃣ Grow in the understory – Mushrooms, wild garlic, ginseng, and shade-tolerant fruits like pawpaws and elderberries.
2️⃣ Use natural gaps & edges – Raspberries, blueberries, and even classic fruit/nut trees in sunnier spots.
3️⃣ Selective clearing – Remove weak trees to open space for chestnuts, walnuts, and food forest guilds.

Signs of life from last week before the 2" of snow the other day. This is one of the daffodil beds we transplanted from Barnstead to Bow and now to Hebron. 7 or so generations 3 varieties. These babies get around!
