Helen Ellzey, 96, passed away Monday, April 6, 2026, in Nocona, Texas.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, at Forestburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Parr officiating.

Burial will follow at Perryman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 am at the church, prior to the service.

Helen Marie Cook was born in Forestburg, Texas on August 28, 1929, to Odus and Vashti Wilson Cook. She graduated from Forestburg High School. She married Dixie Lee “Dick” Ellzey May 28, 1945. Dick joined the U.S. Marines and after basic training the two of them lived at Camp Le Jeune, North Carolina. In 1946, they returned to Forestburg and started their family. They lived in Odessa and Snyder for a few years where Dick worked in the oil field. They returned to Forestburg with their growing family. Dick ran a service station business, and Helen helped him there until she started attending college at Cook County Junior College in 1959.

In 1960, they moved to DeQuincy, Louisiana. Dick taught mechanics at Sowela Tech and Helen continued her education at McNeese State College. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education in 1963 and began her teaching career. She taught in elementary schools in DeQuincy and in Lake Charles. She continued her education and earned a master's degree and Education Specialist certification.

She retired in 1987 at which time she and Dick moved back to their hometown of Forestburg. They bought country property, built a home there, and enjoyed raising cattle and growing large gardens. Helen went back to teaching there at Forestburg ISD and taught sixth grade for five years.

Helen was a wonderful cook and enjoyed feeding and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She and Dick participated in many community and church activities in their hometown.

After Dick’s death in 2012, Helen continued living on her farm and spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dick, her parents Odus and Vashti Cook, sister Ouilda Cook Jones, brother H.D. Cook, daughter Stephannie Huck, son-in-law Jim Lemoine, grandson Ben Davison, great-granddaughter Allie Elizabeth Hebert, and great-grandsons Sam Davison and Duke Goyne.

Helen is survived by three children, Sonja Davison, Shelia Lemoine, and Eric Ellzey; ten grandchildren: Zack Davison (wife Christine), Stephan Goyne (wife Lindsay), Eric Lemoine (wife Alex), Brad Lemoine (wife Jill), Tim Davison (wife Jessica), Courtney Hebert (husband Robby), Abby Lemoine (husband David Bueno), Ellen Ellzey, Alex Huck (wife Carly), Evan Ellzey (wife Libby).

Seventeen great grandchildren: Ember and Joseph Davison; Iris, Edward, and Helen Kawas; Tab, Jude, and Farrah Hebert; June Lemoine; Odus and Bo Goyne; Gunner, Scotty, and Brandon Mushaney; Sarah and Emmeline Ellzey; Harper Huck; several nieces and nephews ands cousins.

The family would like to express our appreciation to the staff at Grace Care Center of Nocona for the loving care they showed our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Donations to Perryman Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.

Velma Lea Bohanan 94, passed away April 2, 2026, into the loving arms of her savior Jesus Christ at Advance Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Bowie, Texas following several years battling dementia.

Velma was born January 4, 1932 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Joseph and Lucinda Clark. She met her husband James Bohanan Sr. and the couple were married April 1952. Besides being a military spouse and raising one son, she love to garden. She worked as a secretary in different military offices. Spending her days off with her dogs was her joy. She cherished every moment spent with her husband on different deployments.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.

She is survived by her son, James Bohanan Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX; grandchildren in California and great-grandchildren in Tennessee.

No services are planned. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Bowie and Solaris Healthcare. Their dedicated care and kindness was greatly appreciated. The family is very grateful for her caregivers Candy and Cynthia for many hours caring for her.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 30th, at 12:00 p.m. at the Old Country Church in Bowie, TX, with Pastor Sam Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Sunset, Texas.

June was born on May 10th, 1942, to Orville and
Margaret McKee. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School. June married the love of her life Charlie Jones on July 2nd, 1960, at the LeeTot Baptist Church. The two were married for 65 happy years. June was a Merchandiser Manager for JC Penney for 12 years, while also being the “Head Dog” over C&L Door Company. June loved the Lord; she was a devout Christian and was a member of the Old Country
Church in Bowie. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, and traveling. June’s biggest blessings in life were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Charles Jones; grandson, Joshua Woods; and brothers, Richard McKee, Jimmy McKee and Barr McKee; son-in-law, Jim Rodgers; and brother-in-law, Ocy Hale.

June is survived by her son, Chuck Jones III and wife Charna of Little Elm, TX; daughters, Peggy Rodgers of Sunset, and Patty Richardson and husband Bob of Sunset; sister, Dotty Hale of Little Elm; and sister-in-law Brenda McKee of Collinville, TX.

James Eubanks Wright, 91, of Forestburg, TX entered his heavenly home on Saturday, March 21, 2026, after a brief hospital stay.

Visitation will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31st, at the Forestburg Baptist Church.

Funeral service will directly follow at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31st, at the Forestburg Baptist Church, with Dr. Stewart Holloway officiating.

Burial will follow at Perryman Cemetery in Forestburg, TX.

James was born on January 30, 1935, at Anadarko, Oklahoma to Chris and Odie Alexander Wright. Family later moved to Wichita Falls where he attended school. In 1952 he moved to Fort Worth, Texas where he was employed by A. Brandt Furniture Mfg. He worked there until he opened his own business, Wright’s Custom Upholstery in Keller.

When he was sixteen his mother signed for him to join Texas National Guard where he served for 34 years. During those 34 years, he saw active duty during the Berlin Wall Crisis. He was also activated for duty after the devastating tornado in Wichita Falls in 1979.

He married the love of his life Mildred Ann Lane Ragsdale (Millie) on February 12, 1960. They had one son, Glenn. James was the proud “Pawpaw” of three granddaughters. Tori Wright Howard, Delaney Wright and Cassidy Wright Thompson. He was also “Pawpaw” to two great granddaughters, Payton and Landry Howard.

After moving to Forestburg, James closed his business in Keller in 2000. He spent his retirement years with family and friends. He was an avid gardener. Being outside working in the flower beds or garden was his happy place. He also liked to work on puzzles. He would never quit until the last piece was in place.

James was a member of Forestburg Baptist Church. He is one of the first deacons ordained by the church. He took care of the outside grounds of the church and parsonage. He could be found working in the flower beds or mowing the lawns.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Odie Wright, sisters Lula Thedford, Betty Buford, brother Wayne Buford Wright.

James is survived by his wife, Millie; son, Glenn and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Tori Howard and grandson-in-law Justin Howard, Delaney Wright, Cassidy Thompson and grandson-in-law Matt Thompson; great-grandchildren, Payton and Landry Howard; and nieces and nephews.

Christopher Contreras, age 60, of Bowie, TX, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. To many, he was simply known as Chris.

A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 3rd, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, TX.

Chris was born in Beeville, TX on June 26, 1965, Chris was a long-time resident of Bowie, TX and served as a maintenance man for Bellmire Healthcare facility back in the 80s. He was well loved by many and a very kind-hearted soul. He was well recognized by the beanies that he wore and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team and New York Yankees baseball team. Chris was a loyal, genuine and dear friend to those who knew him, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and always enjoyed having a good time. He will be sadly and sorely missed by his loving family and friends and remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and devoted dedication to his family.

Christopher is preceded in death by his father, Manuel Sr., mother Irene C. Hoyer, brother Manuel Contreras Jr, brother Manuel Bradford Contreras, and stepmother Karen Contreras.

Christopher is survived by his estranged wife, Twana Contreras; cherished children, Christen Craft and Christopher Charles Manuel Contreras; his loving brothers Ruben (Janice) Contreras, Timothy Contreras, Casey Contreras, and Robert Hoyer; his sister Irene Hoyer; and his stepfather Gary Hoyer.

Jessie Geneva Pipkin, 99, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, March 28th, at 10:00 a.m. at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, Texas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie.

Jessie was born on June 23, 1926, in Montague County to John and Ethel McCarter. Jessie grew up in Texas, where she developed the strong faith that would guide her throughout her life. She married Clinton Pipkin on January 1, 1945.

Jessie devoted much of her life to serving others as a Sunday school teacher and through her involvement in women’s ministry. She was widely known for her unwavering faith and her passion for sharing it with others. When she wasn’t asking someone if they knew Jesus, she enjoyed playing card games and spending time with those she loved. She will be remembered for her deep faith, her witty sense of humor, and her enduring love for God and her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel McCarter; her husband, Clinton Pipkin; son Eldon Pipkin and her four sisters.

Jessie is survived by her daughter, Darlene Pipkin; daughter in law Joyce Pipkin, grandchildren, Ginger Kemp, Darin Pipkin, Tammy Keeton, and Kevin Pipkin; her great-grandchildren, Preston Kemp, Savannah Kemp Rodriguez, Colin Pipkin, McKenzie Pipkin, Victoria Musgrove, Gabriel Pipkin, Allie Watkins, and Andrew Aube; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brantley Rodriguez, Lincoln Rodriguez, and Hudson Watkins.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May her strong faith continue to live on through those she touched.

On Sunday, March 22nd, 2026, Clyde David Stirewalt Sr., 71, passed away at his lake house in Bowie, Texas, and was welcomed home by Jesus.

There will be a viewing held at Freedom Life Church, Bowie, Texas prior to the service on Friday, March 27th, 2026 at 1:00pm.

The funeral service will be directly following at 2:00pm in the Church sanctuary, officiated by Bro. Chad Word.

Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Bellevue, Texas, with Clyde David Stirewalt Jr., David Stirewalt, Daniel Melton, Taven Melton, Colton Broussard, Cade Broussard, and Trace Webb serving as pallbearers.

Clyde was born November 1, 1954, to Harold Price Sr. and Evelyn Mae (Carnes) Stirewalt, in Carthage, Missouri. He was raised in Southern California and later relocated to Texas in 1993. He finally settled down in Bowie, Texas on Amon G Carter Lake in a house that he built with his family.

He met the love of his life Thelma “Tedi” Ellen (Dickerson) Stirewalt on Sunday, October 28,1973 while cruising the streets like teenagers did in Westminister, California. He knew from the moment he saw her that he wanted to know her, and after their first date they were inseparable. They married on May 26th, 1974. Together they had 3 children and 9 grandchildren.

He was a 3rd generation marble and granite mason, and so much of his work was artistry. You can see some of his work on display at Cook Children’s Hospital, The original Texas Ranger’s stadium, the original Cowboy’s stadium, Texas Motor Speedway, The Hulen and Northeast Mall, South Coast Plaza, John Wayne’s home, Marie Callender’s home, Pia Zadora’s home, and so much more. He was a jack of all trades, master of one, and worked diligently his whole life to provide for his family, which was his whole world. If you were to ask him what his greatest accomplishment was, he would have said it was his kids and their children. He was their greatest cheerleader, and they were his legacy.

Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed off roading to the Kern River, camping in the Sierra Mountains, creating massive bonfires from whole tree trunks (IYKYK), fishing anytime he saw water, watching the Kansas City Chiefs play, and preparing and eating good food with his family. Clyde was always the life of the party with his great sense of humor, and he never met a stranger. You just never knew what was going to come out of his mouth.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Stirewalt Sr. and Evelyn Mae Carnes; brother Harold Stirewalt Jr.; brothers-in-law Gordon Bailey Sr. And Chuck Bennett; grandsons Aidan and Avery Stirewalt; granddaughter Promise Joy Melton; and his beloved companion Buddy.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Tedi; son Clyde David Jr.; daughters Jaime and husband Daniel Melton, and Mallory and husband Colton Broussard; nine grandchildren David Stirewalt, Taven Melton, Maevelyn Melton, Tesher Melton, Chazlyn Webb, Taelyn Webb, Trace Webb, Chloe Broussard, and Cade Broussard; and one great grandchild Bellamy Stirewalt.

He is also survived by his brothers Donald and Daniel Stirewalt; sisters Gail Bailey and Cindy Bennett; sister-in-law Linda Stirewalt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

BOWIE – On March 20, 2026, Connie “Sue” Jackson Fitzgerald, 87, our sweet Ma, walked into Jesus’ arms surrounded by her girls and brother.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at The White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.

A graveside Celebration of Life service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Willow Point Cemetery in Balsora, Texas.

Sue was born on February 8, 1939, in Decatur, Texas, to Maurice and Geneva (Harris) Jackson. She graduated from Bowie High School in 1956; she played on the 1955 State Champion Jackrabbit basketball team. Following graduation, Sue worked at the Montague County Courthouse.

She married Mel Anders in 1958; they had three daughters: Terri, Tammie, and Tracy. On January 12, 1973, she married Carl Fitzgerald in Nocona, Texas. They shared 44 years of devotion, love, and laughter before his passing in 2017.

Sue worked for the City of Bowie for many years before working with Carl, co-owner of East Side Lumber in Bowie.

A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Sue taught Sunday School for many years. She will forever be remembered as a sweet, loving, kind, and devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents; and her brother, Tim Jackson.

Sue is survived by her daughters: Terri Wallace (Chuck) of Bowie; Tammie Miller (Alan) of Bowie; and Tracy Birkett of Grand Prairie, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Stetson Miller (Toni) of Bowie; Baylie Miller (Jana) of Hearne; Karli Hudson of Dallas; Kyle Hudson (Olivia) of Cleburne; Levi Wallace (Karsen) of Waxahachie; Emily Yee (Ryan) of Fort Worth; T.J. Birkett of Stamford, Connecticut; and Melanie Birkett and Georgia Birkett of Grand Prairie.

Her great-grandchildren: Reyan Lehoski, Kendall Lehoski, Blakely Thompson, Brynn Miller, Briar Miller, Camryn Miller, Clay Yee, Tate Wallace, and Kamryn Hudson. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Skinner; her brother, Mike Jackson; her cousin, Louie Jackson and wife Janet; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Randall Jack Carpenter, 33, of Bowie, TX, passed away Sunday, March 15th, 2026, in Bowie, Texas. In the hearts of his children, he was their hero.

Family has chosen arrangements with cremation, and a Celebration of His Life will take place on Tuesday, March 24th, at 6:00 p.m. at the Rib Shack in Sunset, TX, for anyone who wants to attend.

Randall was born in Bakersfield, CA on June 23rd, 1992, to Daryl Carpenter and Teresa Cockren. He graduated high school in the small town of Columbus, TX. Although never married, he had three beautiful children, Annabelle, Wilhelm, and Wylie. Randall worked at WL Plastics in Bowie; he was a very hard worker and provided for his family. In Randall’s spare time he enjoyed fishing, reading, spending time with his kids and having long conversations with family members and loved ones. Growing up, even from a young age, he was a hero and protector of his little brother and all those he cared for. He passed away doing something that was just instinct for him.

He is preceded in death by numerous cousins and other family members.

Randall is survived by his beautiful children and fiancé Kimberly Crawford; his parents and siblings who loved him and will miss him dearly.

William Milton North, 91 of Bowie, Texas passed away on Friday, March 20th, 2026.

Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28th, at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie, with Pastor Mike Henson officiating.

Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

William was born March 23, 1934, in Jayton, TX to Van R. and Hartense (Sandell) North. He attended grade school in Clairemont, Texas and graduated from Spur High School in 1950. He attended and graduated from Hardin Simmons University in 1955, where he was a member of the Cowboy Band for four years.

William was married to Jean Karr on June 4, 1954. They had two daughters, Jane and Carol, four grandsons, and eight great-grandchildren.

William was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Bowie and the Seekers Sunday School Class.

William worked with Standard Oil of Indiana in the Pampa District for five years and with the Walter O'Bannon Company for fifteen years. He retired after managing Pride Express trucking company in McKinney, Texas.

In retirement, he became active in the Bowie Masonic Lodge where he served as Secretary for seven years and as District Deputy Grand Master. He is a past Master of Bowie Lodge #578 and Blue Grove Lodge #965, and a recipient of the Golden Trowel Award. William was also active with the Fort Worth Scottish Rite becoming a 32nd Degree Mason, Knight Commander of the Court Of Honor.

William shared his love of the outdoors with his family, creating many cherished memories of times together fishing, hunting, and camping, and he was loved dearly by his family. He enjoyed playing dominoes at the Senior Citizens Center and working in his garden.

He is preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter, Kamden Grace Perkins.

William is survived by his wife Jean; daughters, Jane Spradling and husband Denny, and Carol Grant and husband John; four grandsons, William Perkins and wife Susan, Michael Perkins and wife Jenn, Andrew Grant and wife Amy, and William Westin Grant; seven great-grandchildren, Maddox Perkins, Liam Perkins, Braxton Perkins, Jemma Perkins, Benton Grant, Josey Jean Grant, and Corbin Grant.

Betty was born on January 5, 1940, to Robert and Juanita Ensey, in El Paso, TX. She attended Forestburg High School. Betty married Louie Lowrance on December 23, 1956, in Sunset, TX. They were married for 69 years. Betty worked at the Hagger Slack Company for 10 years, and later the Howard Wolf Dress Factory for 10 years. She then started a 20-year career with the United States Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster of the Sunset office. Betty was a devout Christian and was a member of the Old Country Church in Bowie. One of Betty’s biggest blessings was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always called her granddaughters her “Princess”, and she was their Queen. She loved to go on trips and outings with all the girls. Betty loved all sports, and watched any activities that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Juanita Ensey, son, Louie Marlon Lowrance, and son-in-law, Kenneth Howerton.

Bob Fitzner was born December 16, 1946, to James and Annabelle Fitzner in Tucumcari, New Mexico. After graduating Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas Class of 1965, he immediately enlisted in the United States Army wanting to serve his country. While in the Army, he excelled as a soldier and rose to the Special Forces Team of a Green Beret. As an Airborne Green Beret trained at Fort Bragg, NC, Sergeant Bob Fitzner earned his wings and then became a Jumpmaster.

His additional training included certification in glacier climbing and repelling, river navigation, fi****ms expert, and field medic. After his service to his country, Bob chose to pursue his education at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. While in Wichita Falls, he met his beautiful bride, Linda Diane White. They married December 4, 1971, at First Baptist Church, Bowie, Texas. They started their life together while attending college in Wichita Falls where they began their family of four glorious children.

While raising their children, Bob created and established Homestead Mobile Homes in Burkburnett, Texas and eventually expanded to seven additional mobile home lots throughout Texas. While raising their four children, Bob was heavily involved in the community in the local Junior Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President and Officer for the Board of Commerce and Industry. Not to mention coaching many of his children’s youth baseball and sport teams. In 1989, the family moved to Bowie, Texas where he eventually started Homestead Mortgage.

Throughout his time in Bowie, he served as Bowie High School Booster Club President for two years while continuing to support every child in all activities from basketball, cheerleading, football, baseball and golf and especially supporting his wife creating community musicals and being a local high school theater teacher.

Traveling was a favorite past time of Bob and Linda, as they were fortunate enough to travel the world while their children were young. Fishing was truly one of his favorites along with golf and snow skiing. He enjoyed spending time on the lake in his boat with his family fishing and skiing. He pursued his passion for flying and aircrafts in 1982 and earned his personal pilots license then bought his first plane, which was Cessna 172. He also loved being recognized as a radio star starting in Seattle where he was the voice of the daily the “Troop Salute” and for the past five years has been the voice of the “Troop Salute” on the Country Top 40 Countdown with Fitz. Known as “Green Beret Bob’ he is adored by listeners throughout the world.

His downtime included reading, endless hours of listening to KRLD, watching Fox News, John Wayne movies and the History Channel as he was a history major.

Bob lived life to his fullest and was always the center of the party with his sense of humor, big smile, and unforgettable laugh. He absolutely adored his family and embraced quality time with each and every one of them as they brought joy to his life.

His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been taught how to persevere, be strong, be smart, love your country, provide for your family, and stand up for what is right.

Bob is survived by his wife Linda Fitzner; his son, Brady Fitzner of Bowie, Texas; his daughter, Misti Fitzner Reed and husband Thomas of Colleyville, Texas; his son, Cory Fitzner and wife, Bethany of Weatherford, Texas; and son Dustin Fitzner of DFW; and 13 grandchildren Austin, Allie and Andy Fitzner; Everleigh, Tanner and Breeland Reed; Corbin, Chloe, Cooper, Drew, Cash, Bowie and Bodie Fitzner; Four great-grandchildren; Hank, Jesco, Duke and Jane.

Also survived by sister, Jimmie Ann Vaughn of Bastrop, Texas and twin sister, Bonnie Dennis of Georgetown, Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews.
