Today we pause to honor Alex Pretti a nurse whose life was lost far too soon.

This image his colleagues lining the halls of the Minnesota VA speaks louder than any words.

It reflects the quiet strength of the nursing community and the deep respect held for one of their own.

Nursing is more than a profession. It is service, sacrifice, and showing up for others, even when the cost is high. Alex’s impact lives on through the patients he cared for and the colleagues who stood beside him.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and the entire VA nursing community. May he be remembered with honor, gratitude, and compassion.

It’s ironic that our retreat landed during Nurse Practitioner Week….right as conversations circulate about whether nursing should be classified as a “professional degree.” We chose not to address it because the truth speaks for itself.

Our work is professional. Our leadership is professional. Our impact is undeniable. This week reaffirmed what we already know: nurses and NPs are the foundation of healthcare, and no proposal is changing that. 🧡💙
