May's therapy theme was frogs/pond! Here are just a few of the fun things we did in therapy this month. I am thinking about caterpillars and butterflies being one of my themes this summer. What theme suggestions do you have?

March and April's theme was Farm and Farm animals.
Songs included the classic Old McDonald Had a Farm as well as Down on Grandpa's Farm and The Farmer in the Dell. The kids loved using a farm animal as a game piece when we played game boards (especially when practicing speech sounds)! Why questions helped kids learn where food comes from - Why are there cows on farms? Because they give us milk and hamburgers. Spatial concepts (in, on between, under, etc.) were worked on while doing a scavenger hunt for the animals.

February's theme was outer space. I had a pop-it of the planets and the sun, some space cards, books including Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, a shape sorter, and a sensory tub (pictured below). The kids really enjoyed the sensory tub filled with dry soy beans, space toys, and a couple of measuring cups. Some kids enjoyed playing in the soy beans without the cups or toys. Some enjoyed using the cups to scoop and dump the soy beans. Other kids enjoyed playing with the all three things including hiding some of the toys in the cups filled with soy beans.

This melting snowman kit was a favorite with my caseload this January!!! It went perfectly with my winter theme.

I used it to target some many different goals:
⛄️Describing
❄️How and Why questions
⛄️Sensory experience
❄️Reward (earned pieces, time, etc.)

The kids were super creative.

Vedder Therapy was in Pemberville's Christmas parade this past Sunday evening. It was cold and a little on the wet side, but it was fun to see everyone who came out for it and to pass out candy and business cards.

I love using sensory bins in my therapy sessions! They can be used in a variety of ways to target different goals. The things you can put in them are never ending. What would you put in a sensory bin?

I have found sensory tubs are a fantastic way to practice all sorts of skills in a real-life way.
