We are so grateful to be partnering with the Wood County Jail to bring NAMI Peer-to-Peer as part of the IGNITE program. This class provides individuals living with a mental illness a chance to share their stories, learn new coping strategies, learn how to advocate for themselves, and much more. It was wonderful to hear the participants’ kind words about how this program has impacted them for the better.

Statement from Daniel H. Gillison, Jr., CEO, National Alliance on Mental Illness

“Words matter. How racism is discussed, understood, or dismissed in public life has real consequences for individuals, families, and communities.

To be clear, racism is a direct threat to mental health, and NAMI strongly denounces racism in all its forms.

We applaud and stand with the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association for continuing to underscore the mental health consequences of racism, bias, and discrimination, and for reinforcing the importance of addressing these harms as part of our broader mental health efforts.”
