We are excited to share that our team will be participating in The Senior Resource Summit on March 17 from 3:00–6:00 PM at The Medical Center WKU Health Sciences Complex in Bowling Green.

This FREE community event is a great opportunity for seniors, families, and caregivers to connect with local healthcare and community resources. There will be exhibitor booths, educational breakout sessions, giveaways, and door prizes.

If you or a loved one are looking for resources, support, or information about services for seniors in our community, we would love for you to stop by and see us!

Kentucky households can apply for LIHEAP Crisis from January 6 to March 27, 2026, to help with heating emergencies during the colder months.

Eligible households with income up to 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and experiencing a heating crisis may qualify for assistance. This program covers heating costs for electric, natural gas, propane, coal, wood, or fuel oil. Benefits are paid directly to the energy vendor, and a disconnect notice, past-due bill, or eviction notice is required to apply.

Assistance received during previous LIHEAP components does not affect eligibility. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Important Updates Regarding SNAP and Medicaid

The International Center would like to make our community aware of upcoming changes to federal laws that will affect SNAP (food stamps) and Medicaid programs. These changes will impact immigration status eligibility for both programs.

Beginning October 25, 2025, individuals holding refugee status will no longer be eligible for SNAP benefits.

Beginning October 1, 2026, individuals holding refugee status will no longer be eligible for Medicaid.

After these dates, new applications or renewals for these programs from individuals with refugee status will be denied and existing benefits will be discontinued.

If you require food assistance after losing SNAP benefits, The International Center operates a Food Pantry every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.

This is a developing situation, and we appreciate your patience as we continue to receive new information from DCBS.
