Autism, depression, high anxiety or stroke, our promise is simple... Horses Heal Humans. Northern Michigan Equine Therapy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to using the healing nature of a horse as a therapeutic tool to enhance independence, self-confidence, and quality of life. With a horse’s guidance and support, our hippotherapy, HorseSense©, at-risk youth and Veterans programs are offered by licensed professionals and equine specialists to provide the community with the best quality of service to those in need.

At Northern Michigan Equine Therapy, practitioner Courtney Sumpter uses horseback riding to help children and adults build strength, balance, and everyday skills. Her work has led to life-changing milestones—like a young patient with Pitt-Hopkins syndrome taking his first steps after months of riding therapy.
