What if fear was never weaponized again?

🪷 Vow III of 10 — A Prayer for
Understanding

Fear divides.
Misunderstanding destroys.
But understanding… heals.

After 2,300 miles walked in silence, this vow feels urgent:

May fear be replaced with understanding.
May misunderstanding never again become a reason for violence.

Peace begins when we choose to understand.

Walk for Peace

It has been very challenging and it’s important to keep showing up. Just one person can make a big difference and have ripple effects for for healing or for harm. I choose to be a healing presence, even in the midst of all the hurt.❤️🙏

Celebrate how far you have come and keep pushing forward toward your goals. 🌟💪

So very true. Beyond words, the body has wisdom. We just need to listen in in an embodied way ❤️🙏

So very true. Beyond words, the body has wisdom. We just need to listen in in an embodied way ❤️🙏

The body carries its own ancient intelligence, often sensing imbalance or truth long before the mind can name it. It speaks to the body as a living spirit ally, guiding us back toward harmony when we slow down enough to listen. Its significance lies in the invitation to treat bodily signals as sacred communication rather than inconvenience, restoring a deeper relationship with our own vitality.

Text on Image: “The body speaks in the language of spirit, quiet and ancient, asking us to return. When we listen, we remember the path home to balance, breath, and belonging.”

Today I joined a group of meditators at the beautiful Buddhanara, Buddhist Zen center, very close to to where I live in Buford, GA. It was a beautiful and serene place. I think this is going to my new Dharma home!. I am looking forward to practicing there and meeting other meditators. It was quite a wonderful experience today.❤️🙏

This morning, I visited the Buddha Nara Buddhist center for the first time. It is quite beautiful there. There’s a pond by the meditation hall. That’s quite peaceful and serene. If you live near Buford, please come and join them. They really are a welcoming group of meditators..

This practice is a Refuge. It asks nothing of us and gives so much in return. I feel blessed to have this practice in my life. It has helped me to stay grounded in the midst of chaos and during an intensely challenging period In my life.❤️🙏

“We should not be afraid of suffering. We should be afraid of only one thing, and that is not knowing how to deal with our suffering. Handling our suffering is an art. If we know how to suffer, we suffer much less, and we’re no longer afraid of being overwhelmed by the suffering inside. The energy of mindfulness helps us recognize, acknowledge, and embrace the presence of the suffering, which can already bring some calm and relief.”

VOW II — HUMAN DIGNITY FOR ALL

If we truly want peace — we must protect human dignity.

🪷 Vow II of 10 — Save this series as we walk each vow together.

After 2,300 miles of walking in silence, this vow echoes louder than any speech:

May every person be heard.
May every person be respected.
May every person be protected.

Beyond race.
Beyond background.
Beyond faith.
Beyond language.

This is not politics.
This is humanity.

The Venerable monks did not argue for peace — they embodied it.

Peace begins when we truly see one another.
Compassion begins when we truly listen.
Love begins when we choose to protect the dignity of all.

We walk this vow forward — together.

You’ve likely heard that mindfulness “changes the brain,” but how, exactly? We’re grateful for the opportunity to host self-described “neuro-nerd” Dr. Gus Castellanos for an experiential, research-informed ONLINE workshop on April 18 to explore how mindfulness interacts with the nervous system.

Topics include:
-How the standard practices (focused attention, body scan, open awareness, loving-kindness) engage different neural systems

-What current neuroscience supports, questions, and has yet to clarify

-Brain networks related to attention, emotion regulation, pain, stress reactivity, and self-referential processing

-Why individual differences matter—and why the same practice can be stabilizing for one person and challenging for another

-Common myths and oversimplifications in mindfulness-and-the-brain narratives

No neuroscience background is required for this workshop which will include brief practice, accessible neuroscience, and reflective dialogue, grounded in evidence but free of hype.

Gus Castellanos, M.D., is a retired, board-certified neurologist and sleep-medicine specialist with over 25 years of clinical experience. Since 2009, he has focused on teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and other mindfulness-based programs across healthcare, education, correctional institutions, and community settings. Gus brings an integrative, evidence-based, and contemplative lens to understanding how mindfulness affects the brain, including where its effects are often misunderstood or overstated.

We aren’t meditating just to become good meditators. Spiritual practice is our opportunity to bring a semblance of harmony and compassion to our lives so that we can then bring that sense of connectivity and love to the world and all we meet. 🧘

There is no way around this — a wise society must be built on no other foundation but love itself. True peace does not come from anywhere except the ground of love. The good news is that love is who we really are.

This was the view from my back porch this evening. I just moved into a house with a view to the lake. This has been very healing for me as I go through a transition from marriage to being single. Moments of heartbreak and tears followed by gratitude for the things that are truly blessings in my life right now.

It’s also a time for a clearing out as I go through boxes and let go of things that I’ve held onto for so long. In many ways that is more than just the material things. Beliefs, expectations, assumptions… These are all things that the Mind stores and then holds to be true until something happens that totally sweeps the rug out from under you. It’s like Pema Chodren says, ‘To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest.’ It truly is letting go off what was an opening to what is. It’s that or to be stuck in the past. I’m being stuck in the past only brings more suffering. So right now the practice is taking it one step at a time, meeting with arises with kindness, and sometimes just surrendering to the grief.🙏❤️

So true❤️🙏

So true❤️🙏

When we accept this truth, we open to the vast perspective that there’s a much greater dance going on that we are part of in some deep, profound, mysterious, and timeless way. 🌀
