Sam was one of our favorite friends. Ed was his companion for a very long time, and I also had the distinct pleasure to spend time with Sam. He was 98 years old with an inspiring attitude. He went to Temple every morning and to all the activities for available to him through Jewish Services and the Temple.

I loved it when he taught me new recipes. He cooked fresh food for himself all the time. Wherever he went, everyone new him and everyone had smiles when he would say hello and knew their names. He spoke multiple languages, and was a Holocaust Survivor. Always wearing his hat, he would share the best stories and loved to laugh. Ed, one of Rent-A-Daughter's special Son's, was delighted with the time he was with Sam.

They laughed, shared stories and Sam called Ed- his best friend. Being with Ed allowed him to "live", not just to "survive". Ed cried at his funeral and said he never cried at other funerals before. We do get to be just like family.

Our deepest condolences go out to his children, grandchildren and many friends. We miss you dearly Sam and know you are still in Gods hands.

I have asked this to be posted on my behalf as I am not well enough to do it myself at this time. I am in my early 60s, and Shelley Randall has been my Personal Assistant and Care Manager for 2.5 years so far!

She has organized my home and paperwork and has implemented a functional and working system for me that has minimized the feeling of being overwhelmed. Her companionship alone has been priceless.

She has also assisted my father with his most personal financials and information and he had been a very private non-trusting retired Attorney.
