187 Days after her arrival in Blackfoot, Laverne is still at our shelter. We won't lie, when she first came to us, Laverne was a handful. She had no leash manners, no basic commands training, and she wasn't very good at playing with other dogs that weren't her sister (now adopted). But over her time here we have put an immense amount of work into Laverne. She walks great on a leash, plays wonderfully with other dogs (medium-large), and will listen to just about any verbal or hard signal command thrown her way.
Laverne is a dog who bonds VERY strongly to her handler/owner once given the chance to get to know them. Initially she can be a bit shy, but given time she is ready to love forever. Although she has gotten better in socializing with new people, she really doesn't prefer children at all. She needs an active adult home who is willing to continue her socializing and training. This Anatolian Shepherd will make a good protector, and we recommend you research the breed to see if she's the right kind of dog for you.
