Happy Pie Day! I made a Blapple Pie (Blueberry Apple Pie) from scratch. Pie is 3.14 times better than cake. When my wife and I were getting married it was a toss up between March 14th and May 4, but Jedi Day won, even though I'm Sith. May the pie be with you.

Rogue (white patchwork) and Mystique (tabbico) are the two newest additions to Bulleit's Family Farm. We adopted them from a feral life in the wild. The vet said Rogue wouldn't have made it if we didn't bring her in, but now they're both doing great. They're still pretty wild, but that's great. We need pest control. We love them both so much. We're happy that they seem to like it here.

When we bought this place it was just a house on a plain lot with a studio style log cabin and nothing else. The house was built in 1904 and the wiring hadn't been updated since the 40s or 50s. We got a good deal because the wiring was a fire waiting to happen and there wasn't even any grounding. Slowly but surely I've pulled and updated every inch. It's now up to date and code after over a 1000 feet of wire and almost every plug being replaced. I even upgraded to 20amp circuits and quad plugs. It was long hard work, but I'm finally done. I feel great knowing that everything on this property was built or updated by myself.

Guy is my little helper on the farm, but he tends to get into more mischief than help. He loves Wallace and Grommet, but he'd always rather be outside chasing the ducks or climbing trees. He's not even two but he's already a master of animal husbandry. He'll be milking and egg collecting in no time.

That's just how we do. Bulleit is our tabby cat mascot. He wakes me up to do chores every morning and curls up on my lap in the evening while I drink my whiskey and unwind. He's a tough boss, but fair. There's some funny lines in this song, like, "the rooster's late, but we don't wait," which refers to the fact that roosters get processed immediately, and my favorite line, "Quail to milk and goat eggs, to survive," which stems from the fact that when I half asleep in the mornings and evenings but still have to collect eggs or milk I mix up the words regularly. It's hard work, but rewarding.

This year we raised two turkeys from hatchlings. We named them Thanksgiving and Christmas after their intended final destinations. In the fall I was feeling bad about the job ahead because they were so fun and beautiful, but I was still going to process them when the time came. I wrote this song for catharsis. Then Christmas ended up getting up to 56lbs and earned himself a reprieve. That was the only thing that could have saved him, but he did it. He ate quail eggs until he became so big that I decided to overwinter him to breed him this year. Him and his mate Thanksgiving are cozied up in the quail house and she's sitting on a nest as I type this. This nest may not make it since it's been cold even with the mild winter, but she'll produce more for us when spring comes. Hopefully more big boys like their dad.

Bambi thinks he's a dog. He's a clown. He comes in the dog door and hangs out in the house. If we're watching something he'll join us on the bed. If I'm lounging, he's there taking up prime couch real estate. He hangs out with the dogs, and loves butt scratches and belly rubs. He even knows fetch. I love all of our goat friends, but I have a special place in my heart for Bambi.
