Love bombed

I was the girl who was there during his no job, no money, no princess treatment, no food, no gifts, no dates... and I could have left and be with whoever I wanted but I stayed because I believed in us & still got completely destroyed.

The thing is, you stayed because you saw potential, you saw the person he could be, and you wanted to be part of that journey. You invested your time, your emotions, your everything, and it hurts even more because you gave it your all. It's like, you didn't just love him, you loved the idea of him, the idea of what you could be together. It's hard to reconcile the person you saw potential in with the reality of who they turned out to be.
