Mary Taitano Baber

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, the world lost a much loved and admired lady. Mary Taitano Baber was born in Guam on December 8, 1946, to Jose and Amanda Taitano. She was the eldest of six children. Mary is survived by her brothers Joseph Taitano of Bradenton, Johnny and James Taitano of Guam, and her sister Patsy Taitano Obenchain of California. Her sister, Doris Leon Guerrero preceded her in death. She also has a brother-in-law Richard Baber of Tampa, sister-in-law Susan Baber Spain of Gainesville, FL, and her niece Elizabeth (Betsy) Spain Barbao of Marietta, GA.

Mary married Ronald Baber of Bradenton on September 12, 1970. At the time, she served as secretary to General Johnson, Vice Commander of the 3 rd Air Division at Anderson Air Force Base in Guam. Ron was her staff car driver on base, and it is said that she always made sure to ride in his car. The rest is history, leading to a long and loving marriage lasting 55 wonderful years. They had no children of their own but were instrumental in bringing up several family members and served as a positive influence in their lives, guiding them through graduation from Manatee High School and supporting them in their college and law school journeys.

Mary served as the head court reporter for Manatee, Desoto, and Sarasota counties for thirty-six years. She is remembered with fondness by Circuit Court Judges, court reporters, bailiffs, attorneys, and court administrators. Mary was admired for her warm smile, calm demeanor, excellent relationships with her court reporter staff, consummate professionalism, precision, and positive attitude. Once, a bailiff remarked that he loved the way she gave read-backs, comparing her dramatic tone delivery to that of “Meryl Streep”.

Mary was a wonderful cook who enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and sharing them with all who were fortunate enough to be invited to dinner. The Baber, Spain, and Barbao sides of the family cherish memories of her loving nature, positive attitude, and strength. Mary was always willing to tackle challenges, no matter how difficult. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain in the hearts and memories of all who knew her.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3100 26 th St. W. Bradenton, on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 10:30 A.M. Following the Mass, Mary’s ashes will be placed in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Garden of Peace.

Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 12810 USF Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.

Dorothy K. Wilhelm

Dorothy “Dottie” K. Wilhelm, age 97, of Cranberry Township, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born May 8, 1928, in Aliquippa to the late Joseph and Margaret Hildebrand Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wilhelm, six brothers and six sisters. She was blessed with a long life and a precious bond with family and friends.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, Jayne Nesbit Bittner (Greg King), Thomas (Kathy) Nesbit, Michele (Warren) Marweg and her precious grandchildren, Jesse Marweg, Justin Nesbit, Matthew (Kayla) Nesbit, Jenna Marweg (Scott Miller), Tyler Marweg and Kristine Nesbit. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law Evelyn Williams, numerous nieces and nephews and beloved family, Sandra (Don) Shreves, Jennifer Free, Jamie (Leigh Ann & Bentley) Free.

Dottie raised her children in Economy Boro and was a devout Catholic attending Our Lady of Peace Church. After marrying Howard in 1988, she moved to Aliquippa and faithfully attended St. Titus Church.

In earlier years, she enjoyed taking her children camping, and it was always a family affair with her siblings and their families. If not camping, there were many Sunday family volleyball games. For almost 40 years, she enjoyed an annual trip to Las Vegas with her sisters and sister-in-law, where she and her sister Terry would celebrate their shared birthday. It became a large family reunion as children and grandchildren joined in the fun.

Dottie loved sports and was a Steelers, Notre Dame, Penguins and Pirates fan. During the hockey games, when the goalie was pulled, she referred to it as an empty “nest.” and during baseball games, she always sang “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and would also sing along with the “Star Spangled Banner.” To whomever had a birthday she loved singing Happy Birthday, and for some, she added “The Old Gray Mare.” She also enjoyed watching “her” cardinals on the birdfeeder.

She and Howard spent time traveling, camping and fishing and they made numerous friends from all over. To Dottie, family were friends and friends were family.

Two days a week after moving to Cranberry, she was fondly cared for by Jenna and dedicated neighbor, Donna Giustini.

Now that she is in the arms of Jesus, she can finally “calm down and relax.”

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Saints John & Paul, Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 2586 Wexford Bayne Road, Sewickley, Pennsylvania 15143, and a memorial luncheon afterwards.

Carlos Eduardo Barcelar

It is with a heavy heart and profound sorrow that we commemorate the life of Carlos Eduardo Barcelar, who departed this world on the 29th of March, 2026. Born on the 29th of December, 1982, in the humble town of Poços de Caldas, Brazil, Carlos lived a life marked by dedication, love, and unwavering faith.

Carlos was a man of the construction craft, where his tireless work ethic and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege to witness his endeavors. Yet, beyond the realm of his vocation, it was his character—both steadfast and tender—that truly defined him. He was known to be a hard worker, a god-fearing soul whose life was guided by principles of integrity and devotion.

Among those who knew him best, Carlos was often remembered for his warmth and lighthearted spirit. Though serious in his pursuits, he possessed a delightful silliness that brought joy to his family and friends alike. His home was a sanctuary where love abounded—in particular, his passion for cooking was a cherished expression of care, and his affection for his children was immeasurable.

Carlos’s life was interwoven deeply with those he held dear. He leaves behind his devoted wife of nineteen years, Steffanie Barcelar, a steadfast companion whose partnership illuminated his journey. Their daughters, Isabella Barcelar and Davi Barcelar, carry forward his legacy of kindness and love. Also mourning his loss are his beloved parents, Jurucey Barcelar and Maria Antonio Cava, who nurtured him from boyhood into the man he became. Alongside them stand a host of sorrowing relatives, each touched by his generosity and goodwill.

In his presence, one found a loving, caring soul who treasured moments spent with family and friends above all else. His departure leaves a void that echoes far beyond the walls of his home, a silence felt in the hearts of all who knew him. Yet, within that silence remains the enduring imprint of a man who, through faith, love, and diligence, crafted a life of meaning and grace.

Carlos Eduardo Barcelar’s legacy is that of a devoted husband, a loving father, a dutiful son, and a steadfast friend. May his memory endure as a beacon of light, inspiring those who follow in the path he so diligently trod. In honoring him, we celebrate a life richly lived and a spirit that will forever shine in the hearts of all who loved him.
