At Manatee Technical College, there’s a program called Project EDGE that teaches students with intellectual disabilities work skills to increase their independence.

Project EDGE is a 900-hour class that began last August.

Congratulations to the EMT graduating class! 🎓 A wonderful combination of Dual Enrollment and Daytime students. 🎊 We were also proud to recognize one of our adult students, Chance Shappacher, who was presented with the Phoenix Award by North River Fire Rescue and Dr. Breslin. Chance received this honor for his actions while completing clinicals on February 28. He responded with North River Fire Rescue and Manatee County EMS to a cardiac arrest call, where he assisted crews with CPR and resuscitative efforts, helping the patient regain a pulse on scene. During transport, he also assisted with airway management after paramedics placed an advanced airway. The patient was stabilized at Manatee Memorial Hospital, transferred to the ICU, and is now awake, with the breathing tube removed, and is expected to make a full recovery with minimal neurological deficits. Amazing things happen every day, and this is a powerful example of the impact our students and staff make in the community. Great job, EMS team!

Congratulations to our graduate student, Fabian Lopez, for completing our ESOL program!
Fabian successfully completed all six levels of our English program and plans to continue his education at Manatee Technical College. We are so proud of him and excited to see all he will accomplish next!
