Welcome to the MCS Board of Directors, Captain Mark Morie!
With nearly 30 years of service at the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, including leadership within the Crimes Against Children Unit, Mark brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to protecting children. Through his close collaboration with our Child Protection Team, he has witnessed firsthand how trauma informed forensic interviews, medical evaluations, and coordinated responses help children feel safe, heard, and supported.

Mark’s decision to serve on the Board reflects a shared belief in MCS’s mission to prevent child abuse, protect victims, and help children heal. We’re honored to have his expertise and dedication strengthening our work on behalf of children and families in our community.

For more than 30 years, Gecko’s Hospitality Group has been a beloved part of our local dining scene, known for great food and an even greater commitment to community. COO Fiona Farrell’s 15 year journey with Gecko’s reflects a culture built on people, relationships, and giving back.

Two weeks ago, MCS was awarded a $108,000 grant from Impact 100 SRQ!

We’re so happy to have been selected as one of Impact100 SRQ’s eight grant recipients for 2026. Impact100 SRQ’s generous funding will support a much needed Volunteer Coordinator to facilitate therapy dog visits and ensure the children we serve will never have to face their scariest moments alone.

From gala favorite to community fundraiser!

Our youth had the incredible opportunity to help design a custom American flag with the Liberti brothers of Heroic Flags for our Groovin’ for Good Gala silent auction. What began as a teen’s mission to give back has grown into Heroic Flags raising over $30,000 for veterans, foster youth, and others in need. Seeing the kids light up as their design became a standout at the gala was a moment we will never forget.
