It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our dear “Coach” Charles Brewster. To know Coach was to love him. He had a passion for sports —especially basketball— but nothing in the world meant more to him than his beloved Sylvia and son Brad. Sixty-six years of marriage, and he still looked at her like she was the best thing that ever happened to him. Their love was the kind of story people only hope for their whole lives.
Coach became family to all of us at Royal Oaks. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and appreciated, always offering a kind word, a warm smile, or a gentle laugh. He never spoke poorly of anyone — unless, of course, the”boss lady” started in with her Roll Tide talk. Their playful back-and-forth about Alabama and Texas football was something we all looked forward to, especially on Monday mornings during football season. The teasing, the laughter, the friendly rivalry —was pure joy to witness.
We like to imagine him now, lacing up his shoes and joining a pickup game with the angles, waiting patiently for the day he’ll be reunited with the people he loves the most. Coach left a mark on every heart he touched, and his kindness, humor, and love will stay with us always. 💔🏀🪽
