Growing up with addicts and alcoholics on both sides of our family, we saw an opportunity we couldn't miss out on. Being living examples of the recovery programming we practice, is the best way to show up for the women we share a house with. There is always hope for the hopeless, and we at the Lakes Recovery will 9x out of 10 find the best characteristics in each person. With 40+ years of being bottom of the gutter junkies/alcoholics, somehow we found someone greater than ourselves, had enough prayers, and got ourselves into treatment one last time. Without sober living, all 3 of the owners would most likely be dead or relapsed today.

This post comes with a full heart, and tears of course. 💙🩵

What started as a simple dream — to create a safe, supportive place for women in recovery — turned into something far greater than we could have imagined. Over the years, The Lakes Recovery was not only the first sober home for women, but then it grew into one of the largest sober living homes, and even more importantly, mothers and their children, here in the Brainerd area.

We have witnessed miracles inside these homes. Women finding their strength again. Mothers reuniting with their children. Lives being rebuilt one day at a time. The courage, resilience, and determination of the women who have walked through our doors will forever stay with us.

This mission has always been about hope, healing, and second chances, and we are incredibly proud of the impact these homes have had in our community.

With that said, we are honored to pass this mission on to someone who truly understands the heart behind the work. Nicole Neff and The Hive House will be taking over The Lakes Recovery, and we know she will continue to lead with compassion, strength, and dedication to the women of Brainerd in recovery.

While this chapter is closing for us, the mission lives on — and that means everything.

To every woman who trusted us with part of your journey… you are the reason this mattered so much. 😢

Brainerd, thank you for believing in this vision and supporting recovery in our community.
