It’s National Rural Mental Health Day

According to research completed by American Farm Bureau, the percentage of farmers/farm workers who say they would be comfortable talking to friends and family members increased 22% since April 2019 to December 2021 .

Minnesota Foundation for Agriculture is committed to serving as a resource to farmers and rural community leaders on how they can address mental health and death by su***de, breaking down the stigma.

As a therapist serving rural and agricultural communities, I see firsthand how limited access, stigma, and sheer distance make getting mental health support so much harder.
It’s no surprise rural communities face higher su***de rates and lower access to care.
NAMI is hosting an important discussion on the barriers rural America faces—and how we can start breaking them down.

This Thursday, we’re hosting an important Ask the Expert conversation in honor of , focused on the urgent mental health needs of rural communities. 🌾

More than 46 million people live in rural America — and they experience unique challenges, including limited access to care and greater stigma around mental illness. As a result, su***de rates are 49% higher in rural communities than in urban ones. 💬
