Earlier this year, we lost our dear friend, mentor, and leader, Diana, after her courageous battle with breast cancer. We remember her every day, but especially during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💖

This October, our PTS family came together to celebrate Diana’s life and the joy she brought to all of us. In Brandon we hosted a Bunco night, one of her favorite games, where current and former staff shared laughter, stories, and memories of her. In Lakeland, we gathered for a special breakfast in her honor, complete with some of her favorite foods.

Diana’s legacy continues to bloom across PTS — at each of our clinics, you’ll find a butterfly garden dedicated to her memory. We invite our patients, families, and staff to visit these gardens often, to reflect, remember, and be inspired by her strength and kindness. 🦋

This October, we honor Diana by spreading awareness, hope, and support for all those affected by breast cancer. 💗

If you’d like to make a difference, PTS has set up a fundraiser in Diana’s memory benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Together, we can continue her legacy of care, compassion, and courage.

AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) includes all the ways people communicate besides talking out loud; like pictures, gestures, sign language, speech-generating devices, or communication boards.

💡AAC Facts:
•AAC can be used by children and adults
•AAC does not stop someone from learning to talk, it can actually help speech develop
•AAC gives people a voice, builds confidence, and supports independence

🚫Common Myths (and the truth):
•Myth: AAC is only for nonverbal people
Fact: AAC supports anyone with communication challenges
•Myth: AAC will stop someone from talking
Fact: AAC actually encourages verbal speech
•Myth: They're too young for AAC
Fact: You're never too young (or too old) to start communicating

📲Why keeping AAC layouts consistent matters:
Imagine opening your phone to check TikTok or Instagram, but the app isn't where it usually is. You swipe, search, hesitate.. it slows you down.
Now imagine you're trying to express a feeling or need and every time, the buttons are in a different place.
For AAC users, changing icon or word locations makes communication harder. It's not just about convenience, it's about their voice. Consistent layouts support motor planning, build confidence, and help communication flow more naturally.
Keep it consistent. Keep it accessible. Keep it empowering.

Let's celebrate communication in ALL forms this October, happy national AAC month! 🗣️

Happy National Physical Therapy Month!

This month we celebrate the incredible impact physical therapy has in helping children restore mobility, build strength, manage pain, and reach developmental milestones all through fun and compassionate care.

Our goal is always to help children become more independent in their day to day lives, and that wouldn’t be possible without our amazing physical therapists!

A huge shoutout to Melanie, Jeni, Caitlyn, and Brianna for your hard work, dedication, and the love you bring to every session. You make such a difference in the lives of so many children and families.

Thank you for all you do, we appreciate you today and every day!

World Cerebral Palsy Day is about recognition, inclusion, and action for the 50 million people world-wide that live with cerebral palsy. It’s a day to celebrate the achievements of the CP community, challenge barriers, and push for a more accessible, inclusive world.💚

Cerebral palsy is the most common lifelong physical disability, affecting a person's ability to walk, move, or communicate. It is caused by an injury to the developing brain, but every individual’s experience with cerebral palsy is unique. Some people require lifelong support, while others live independently. Every story is different, but our community stands together—unique and united.

Did you you know October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month?

It’s a time to celebrate the abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome and promote advocacy and inclusion. By spreading awareness, we can help break down barriers and end outdated stereotypes.

Join us in focusing on what’s possible, not what’s perceived as different. 💙💛
