Ever wonder how open margins happen when scanning?
Most of the time, it comes down to one simple issue: the margin wasn’t clearly visible in the scan.

Here are a few tips to help avoid open margins:

• Scanning subgingival margins requires a clear field of vision.
• Tissue retraction is always indicated, and any injectable retraction material must be completely removed before scanning.
• Cord retraction can remain in the sulcus to help provide a clearer view of the margins.
• Marking margins chairs ide can be helpful, especially while the preparation is fresh.
• If the scanner cannot capture a clear margin, the technician cannot see it.

Clear margins in your scan = more predictable restorations in the lab.

Fifteen years of trust says a lot. 🙌

We’re grateful for dentists who choose to partner with us year after year and trust our team not only with their patients, but with their own smiles too. That kind of relationship is built on consistency, communication, and restorations that truly support the outcome you’re working toward.

Step 8 of the Gold Standard of Dental Shade Matching 🦷

Today’s tip: Use digital tools AND visual confirmation.

Digital tools are a great resource to help shade matching but make sure to use it as confirmation, rather than relying on it alone!

Crafting Confidence! 🦷✨

What an incredible restorative journey for this patient — what a difference!

This is a great example of how thoughtful planning and precise ex*****on can completely change a smile. We began with a full-mouth diagnostic wax-up, mapping out every detail before moving into treatment. The workflow continued with restoring the lower arch first, followed by the upper arch, ensuring ideal function and esthetics throughout.

The final restorations were crafted using Ivoclar Prime shade BL4, delivering exceptional translucency and natural brightness. Additionally, tooth #7 was restored using an Atlantis gold-hue abutment, contributing to both durability and esthetic harmony.

A huge shoutout to Dr. Jeremy Martin - Smiles of Punta Gorda and his entire team! 👏

Their communication, collaboration, and clinical precision made this outcome possible. It's always a pleasure partnering with a team dedicated to exceptional patient care.

Swipe to see the transformation — what a difference restorative dentistry can make!

Step 7 of the Gold Standard of Dental Shade Matching 🦷
Today’s tip: Match in the correct tooth zones.

Natural teeth are not one color! Make sure to tell your lab which zone your shade represents for optimal matching.

Locked in. Focused. Dialed into the details. 🦷

At Suncoast Ceramic Studio, every case gets our full attention—from margins to shade matching to final contour. Because when precision matters, there’s no room for shortcuts.

Feedback matters to us at Suncoast Ceramic Studio!

That’s why every case we complete includes a case evaluation form, so doctors can share how it performed chairside and help us continue refining our work.

One insight we’re especially proud of: based on these evaluations, our average chair time is 10 minutes or less.

Less adjustment. More efficiency. Saving your practice time and money is always our goal!
