Here's a question we often hear from new patients: "My doctor sent me for an [x-ray, MRI]. Can I bring copies of those images to my appointment?"

The answer is yes! If you have copies of diagnostic screenings from your doctor, you are welcome to bring them with you. The information gleaned from these reports and images can be used along with our assessments to develop your treatment plan.

What else goes into developing a treatment plan? Our postural assessment, patient interview, and intake form are all involved in deciding what and how to treat. No two people are exactly the same, and so we work hard to formulate a plan that is right for your unique needs.

We're here to help you feel your best! Call 813-820-3030 to schedule your appointment, or visit us online at BrandonPTC.com.

While researching his book, Breath, James Nestor participated in a study in which his nose was completely plugged for 10 days, forcing him to breathe solely through his mouth. "I felt awful," he says.

The eyes have it! Did you know that we are able to treat the muscles that help to move your eyes? We know what you're thinking: why would we need to massage these muscles?

Our righting reflex is comprised of essentially three systems: vision, cochlear, and somatosensory. Your vision is a crucial part of your system of balance. Indications we may need to treat these muscles include:

1. Someone who wears reading glasses, but looks over the top of their glasses, causing them to overuse their superior recti muscles;
2. Someone who repeatedly shifts/rotates their head to one side to try and equalize their gaze;
3. Someone complaining of one eye not being able to track the same way as the other (as in a "lazy eye")

The techique is very gentle, and as you can see from the image here that we use a cotton swab and the patient's eyelid so that we don't make direct contact with the muscle...in other words, we won't need to poke at your eye in order to treat it!

Our team of therapists is here to help you feel your best. Please visit our website, www.BrandonPTC.com, or give us a call at 813-820-3030.

Need a simple strategy for keeping your body feeling better while working at your desk?

We are living in a digital world, but a sticky note placed on/near your monitor can help remind you to do things like :

1. Check your posture - i.e. what do you look like when you're sitting?;

2. Breathe - it's something we do all day, but when we're stressed our breathing tends to become shallow, erratic, and less nourishing to our brain and body;

3. Get up and take a little walk, get our eyes off the computer screen, grab a drink of water.

And for those techies out there, you can set regular alerts on your phone to remind you to do these things too. :-)

Our therapists are here to help you feel better so you can thrive at work, home, and play! Visit our website, www.BrandonPTC.com, to schedule your appointment, or call us at 813-820-3030.
