Dr. Magda Lopez, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, received her Psy.D. from Nova Southeastern University in 2010. She completed her APA-accredited internship at the Institute for Child and Family Health, Inc. where she also finished her post-doctoral residency. As a trilingual psychologist, fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, Dr. Lopez has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including families who fled their native countries where they experienced abuse and trauma. Working with this population has enriched her understanding and continued interest in their unique challenges and struggles. Being a native from Brazil and coming to the United States as an immigrant, Dr. Lopez understands the challenges of living in a different country. Dr. Lopez’s clinical interests include behavioral problems, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders. Another area of interest for Dr. Lopez is psychological testing where she has gained a tremendous amount of experience helping families address their children’s emotional, academic, and behavioral problems. Dr. Lopez has also provided parenting training to families referred from the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Dr. Lopez’s main goal is helping children, adolescents, adults, and families uncover their full potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating.
