A full weekend facilitating a marriage retreat together. I’m thankful for the opportunity to partner with my husband in this work and support couples who are choosing to invest in their relationship and strengthen their marriage.
Healthy marriages rarely happen by accident. They grow when couples are willing to slow down, have honest conversations, and do the work together.
It’s always encouraging to see the courage it takes for couples to show up and grow.

Huberman does a great job of describing how to use the physiological sigh technique to help regulate the vague nerve and HRV. This is something I recommend to my clients as a regular practice to help with anxiety and stress.

Dr. Andrew Huberman discusses how deliberate long exhales and the physiological sigh harness vagus-nerve control to raise heart-rate variability, rapidly cal...

It’s been a little quiet on here lately. Here's what is new with me.

I completed an 18-hour CE course:
Dr. Arielle Schwartz’s Therapeutic Yoga for Trauma Recovery Certificate
This training gave me additional tools for trauma work using somatic and movement-based approaches (including polyvagal-informed techniques) that can be integrated into therapy.

Just to clarify-because I don’t want to give the wrong impression:
I’m not a yoga instructor and I’m not starting yoga classes.

This is about using movement and breath work within therapy to help support regulation, safety, and trauma recovery in a clinical setting.
I’m grateful to keep learning and adding tools that can help clients heal.

I had a random thought: if I matched Winnie the Pooh characters to mental health conditions, who would be what?

Then I looked it up—none of these are official diagnoses. It’s just a fun “traits that can resemble real struggles” kind of list.

What would you change on this list? I want to hear your take.

A lot of people—inside and outside the church—misunderstand what counseling actually is. Some believers worry that therapy replaces faith or minimizes God’s role in healing. Some non-believers fear that a Christian therapist will push faith onto them or turn therapy into something religious.

But the truth is much simpler:

Counseling is a professional, evidence-based process that helps people understand their thoughts, emotions, and relationships so they can heal, grow, and function more fully.

Just as God gives wisdom to doctors, nurses, teachers, and other helpers, He also equips therapists with tools and training to support people in their mental and emotional health. Therapy isn’t a substitute for God—it’s one of the ways people find support, clarity, and healing.

And for clients who aren’t faith-based, therapy does not require shared beliefs. A Christian therapist can provide fully secular, evidence-based care because ethical standards require that the client’s worldview leads the work—not the therapist’s. Faith is only integrated when a client specifically requests it.

This year we began facilitating marriage retreats, and I’m really thankful for my husband’s heart and his willingness to share this work with me. It’s been a gift to grow as a team while supporting other couples.

Volunteering doesn’t just help others—it helps you, too.
Research shows that acts of service light up the same areas of the brain as antidepressants. That’s right—dopamine gets released when we give our time, our energy, or our compassion.
It’s one of the most powerful ways to boost your own mood, reduce stress, and feel connected.
That’s why I love what Elevate Branson is doing in our community. The impact is real—for those being served and for those showing up to serve.
If you’ve been feeling stuck, lonely, or down, consider volunteering.
It might be the healthiest thing you do for your mind this week

Just watched “The Kid” (with Bruce Willis) for the first time with my son — wow, I didn’t expect it to dive into childhood memory and emotional part work like that. Such a good picture of how those old wounds can still show up in our adult lives. Might be a helpful watch if you’ve ever explored your own “inner child”.

An adult Russ (Bruce Willis) witnesses an emotional and changing moment in his younger life that helps him understand why he is the way he is today.'The Kid'...
