This was a very complex case. We started with treatment of the gums and bone that support the teeth. We followed up with placement of implants, porcelain bridges, porcelain veneers, and porcelain crowns. We were able to complete all her care in our office. Our aesthetic and functional smile makeover process:

1. Understanding our patient's desires and concerns along with detailed data collection happens during the first appointment. A meeting of the minds between doctor and patient is key to developing a vision for each case.

2. A custom design is hand waxed onto an exact replica model of the patient’s mouth. For this case we retained the original tooth shapes

3. Patient receives temporary veneers or crowns that duplicate the wax design. Any gum recontouring is normally done at this stage. The temporaries allow patients to evaluate the function, enhanced tooth shapes, and overall facial symmetry and lip support enhancements.

4. Natural effects like edge translucency and color variation can be added to the temporaries to help our patient see how the final porcelain would look. We take great care with the temporaries so that our patients have a great idea of how their final porcelain work will look and function. For this case, we added glaze to the temporaries to mimic the shine of porcelain and show how light would reflect off of the porcelain.

5. Having our master ceramist duplicate all the aspects of the temporaries that we love, while layering in the natural effects we desire allows for predictable patient satisfaction. You can see how well the temporaries guide the case comparing temp to final.

6. Final cementation and cement clean-up.

Our process allows for predictable outcomes for our patients. For each case, our goal is to improve the facial aesthetics and harmonize the smile to the face. Heavy emphasis is placed on design work and temporaries that mimic the final porcelain work to allow for patient input and for a preview of the final porcelain work.

I love when our patients bravely share their full face photos to inspire other patients to start their own smile journeys. The magic is seeing how the eyes and facial harmony is enhanced by restoring teeth to their original, ideal shape and position. I can't explain why the eyes shine and glow more when we are done but they always do. Shout out to our master ceramist for the exquisite final porcelain work.

I can't describe how my heart swells when I see the glow in our patients after a smile makeover. The confidence that our patients gain, the sparkle in their eye, and just how their personas morph. I live for this!!! So thankful to have completed this process with our amazing patient . We completed 3 bridges to replace missing teeth, gum lifts on the top and bottom to even out the gums, and lengthen all the teeth with porcelain crowns and veneers. I know it was a process for us to complete everything, but the results are always worth it! Special thanks to Mark, master ceramist from Bay View for the huge assist on this case. This young lady didn't like how her gums covered too much of her front teeth. The before picture has an outline of our mental plan for her ideal gum position by lifting and shaping the gum of her four upper front teeth. It took us about 5 minutes to lift and shape the gum for the 2 teeth in the center. She saw how the her smile looked with just the gum completed in the center and she loved it, and decided to call it a day. The after picture is at her 2 week follow up right before she decided to lift and reshape the two teeth next to the center ones as well. This procedure is usually done in one visit but we don't mind little tweaks to make things perfect. Small changes can make all the difference!

Here is a case where we completed 6 upper composite veneers to fix severe decay. This case took us 1 visit to complete and we did have to laser the gum up to fix the decay that extended up above the gum. The after picture was taken right after everything was done. This is the normal amount of redness and irritation you would see after we complete a laser gum lift. Her gums took about 1 week to fully heal. Many patients like certain aspects of their tooth shape and color to be changed with veneers or crowns. In this case, the patient's desire was to just fix the decay and return everything to a healthy state while preserving her original smile. Yes, we certainly can make the dentistry 100% seamless and natural!
