One of the biggest misconceptions I see online is that once you decide you want to get pregnant… fat loss should immediately stop being a goal.

But the truth is — metabolic health before pregnancy matters more than most women realize.

As a labor & postpartum nurse, I’ve seen the difference it can make.

Improving body composition before pregnancy can help support:

• insulin sensitivity
• hormone signaling
• ovulation regularity
• healthy pregnancy weight gain
• postpartum recovery

But this isn’t about crash dieting or trying to become the smallest version of yourself before conceiving.

It’s about creating a metabolically healthy environment your body can build a pregnancy from.

In this episode I’m walking through 4 fat loss strategies I often recommend to women who are preparing their bodies for pregnancy.

Because the goal isn’t restriction.

The goal is metabolic readiness.

Stronger body.
Stable blood sugar.
Better hormonal signaling.

The things that actually support fertility.

If you’re someone who wants to intentionally prepare your body before pregnancy, I’ll be sharing more inside this series.

Pregnancy is one of the most physically demanding seasons of your life.

Yet most women are told to prepare the nursery… not their nervous system, metabolism, or muscle mass.

Pregnancy increases blood volume by up to 40–50%.
Cardiac output rises significantly.
Insulin resistance naturally increases as pregnancy progresses.
Ligaments soften under the influence of hormones.
Nutrient demand skyrockets to build a placenta, brain, organs, and an entire human.

That is not a “just wing it” season.

And as a Labor & Delivery nurse, I’ve seen the difference between bodies that were strong & supported… and bodies that were fatigued & slow to recover.

Muscle mass improves insulin sensitivity.
Strength supports joint stability.
Stable blood sugar lowers risk factors like gestational diabetes.
Nutrient stores matter long before you get the positive pregnancy test.

We prepare because pregnancy deserves respect and YOU deserve better outcomes.

That’s the standard I hold my clients to.

here’s what you need to know:

This is not the season for max effort workouts.
It’s not about chasing exhaustion.
It’s not about burning the most calories.

It’s about progressive overload.

It’s about slowly and intentionally asking your body to adapt.

Pregnancy itself is progressive load. Your center of gravity shifts. Your ligaments become more lax. Your blood volume increases. Your metabolic demand rises. If your tissues, joints, and stabilizers haven’t been trained to handle gradual load increases, that’s when we see nagging back pain, pelvic instability, and preventable injuries.

Progressive overload means:
– Increasing weight gradually
– Improving time under tension
– Building single-leg stability
– Strengthening deep core and glutes
– Training in controlled ranges of motion

This builds tissue resilience.

And resilience matters when relaxin increases and your pelvis is asked to support more weight.

I tell my clients all the time — your body loves adaptation when you respect it. Muscle supports insulin sensitivity. Stability supports pelvic alignment. Strong glutes protect your low back. A trained core supports your growing belly.

We are not redlining your nervous system in this season.
We are building capacity.

Slow strength. Intentional progression. Recovery that matches your stress load.

That’s how you prepare for a strong pregnancy — not by doing more, but by training smarter.

If 2026 is your year, this is where we begin. 🤍

If pregnancy is on your heart for 2026… this series is for you.

It’s about preparing your body with intention so pregnancy doesn’t feel like something that happens to you… but something your body is prepared for.

We’re talking about:

• building muscle that protects your metabolism
• stabilizing blood sugar before hormones demand more
• supporting egg health in the 90-day window that actually matters
• lowering inflammation and chronic stress
• fueling your body like it’s capable of growing life

Healthy women are powerful women.

After years in Labor & Delivery & Postpartum, I’ve learned something that I wish more women were told sooner.

So much of what we see during pregnancy didn’t start in pregnancy. It started months before.

I’ve taken care of strong, vibrant women who prepared their bodies intentionally — and I’ve also seen how unmanaged blood sugar, chronic inflammation, and high stress quietly show up and lands you on an induction list.

This is about understanding that your body is responsive to your choices.

Eggs mature in the environment you create in the months before conception. Hormones respond to muscle mass, blood sugar stability, micronutrient status, and stress load. The placenta doesn’t develop in isolation — it develops in you with the things you provide it.

As a women’s health coach and advocate, what bothers me most is not that women aren’t preparing… it’s that they were never told how much influence they actually have.

And if this is your season, you deserve structure, strategy, and support — not guessing.

Comment “READY” and I’ll send you the pre-launch application for my Preconception Strength System with early access details.

You are more influential than you’ve been led to believe.
