I know that I have gotten many calls regarding therapy and resources for those who were involved and impacted by the shooting in Vegas. I wanted to post here some resources that are being offered for anyone in need:
The Center For Individual & Family Therapy is offering the following process groups free of charge for anyone who is interested:
Monday: 5pm in our Costa Mesa office (facilitated by Rachael Witherspoon)
7pm in our Orange office (facilitated by Carolyn Verity and Mary Zollman … Mark Chevalier and Angela Hanford may also join in leading)
Tuesday: 4:30pm in our Orange office (facilitated by Rachael Witherspoon and Jacqui Mack-Harris)
7pm in our Orange office (facilitated by Jacqui Mack-Harris and Jaclyn Yorkey)
7pm in our Brea office (facilitated by Bruce Chambers)
Wednesday: 6:30pm in our Costa Mesa office (facilitated by Lauren Richardson)
6:30pm in our Los Alamitos office (facilitated by Jacqui Mack-Harris)
Also the California Victims of Crime is offering the following:
FREE therapy is being paid for by the California Victims of Crime. In Los Angeles, there is an assigned advocate so victims don’t get the run around. Her name is Brenda Aguilar (213-974-1622). She will expedite claims so victims can get help more immediately. If outside of Los Angeles, call 800-380-3811. The 800 number will link individuals to funding in their particular area / state. The fund pays for 40 sessions of therapy with the therapist of the victims choosing.
California Victims of Crime has posted a special application for victims of the Las Vegas attack on their website (https://victims.ca.gov/lasvegas/). They are coordinating closely with Nevada, and have agreed to accept each other’s applications. The application they posted has Nevada’s signature page as well as California’s. One application will suffice for both programs. Anyone present the night of the shooting will be eligible for assistance, receiving help in paying for funeral expenses, medical bills, counseling and income or support loss. A special fax number has been set up to receive applications related to the Las Vegas attack at (833) 225-8220. No crime report is needed with these applications, just asking for a description of what happened to the applicant that night and a description of injuries, if applicable.
Victims of the October 1, 2017 Las Vegas attack can apply for benefits from the California Victim Compensation Board and the Nevada Victims of Crime Program.
