In response to the freezing temperatures approaching our community, Lafayette Consolidated Government, in collaboration with community partners like ARCH, is opening a warming shelter tonight through Tuesday to provide refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or those who lack adequate heat.

Those needing warm shelter can present at 401 St. John Street, Lafayette (the Catholic Charities of Acadiana campus) starting at 5:30 pm tonight, to be bussed to the shelter, or present in person at the Dupuis Recreation Center at Brown Park (1234 E. Pont Des Mouton Road), beginning at 6 pm.

It will drop into the twenties over the next couple of days. We have been mobilizing outreach workers and all communication channels in spreading the word to those who would otherwise be left in the cold.

If you are outside Lafayette Parish, here are shelters that are open in the Acadiana region:
