Update on Fisher🧡 🧡🧡🧡🧡
Fisher has been traveling to Baton Rouge every week for his chemo treatments. While things have been as good as they can be under the circumstances, it’s definitely been a roller coaster.
He was supposed to have a chemo and check-up visit in Memphis, but it was canceled due to the upcoming ice storm. To back up a bit—he had a small fall on Friday and didn’t start complaining about pain in his bottom until Monday. We assumed he was just sore from what seemed like a minor fall. Unfortunately, the pain kept getting worse to the point where he couldn’t walk.
An X-ray showed nothing, but as the pain continued to escalate, we went back for a CT scan. After an exam, doctors found an abscess on his tailbone. Poor kid—he knew something wasn’t right. Total adult fail on our part. The doctors have said it is *not* related to his chemo.
Fisher has been admitted to Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Lafayette, where he’s receiving antibiotics through his port. He’ll also be having a small procedure today to drain the abscess.
He’s still scheduled to be in Baton Rouge this Tuesday and Wednesday for a lumbar puncture and more chemo. Please keep Fisher in your thoughts and prayers. This kid has been through so much lately and just can’t seem to catch a break. This disease has all of us holding our breath most days 🧡
